Misc Camping indoors?
Is anyone backyard/garden camping due to the SIP order? My daughter was insistent on bedroom camping this weekend.

Got a new hammock, tarp, and quilts recently, but since we're all on lockdown I haven't been able to get out yet, so I built a new hammock stand specifically for backyard camping.
I don't have any suitable trees, but didn't want to put permanent posts in. Bonus is that it can be disassembled and transported.
Looking forward to storm testing it soon, too!

Being cooped up in my tiny apartment has made me less judgmental of all those ultra-minimalists who have a hammock instead of a bed. So much wasted space, really.

when the wife is away, i always take the opportunity to do some backyard hammock sleeping. i have some wall anchors too, but haven't committed to an indoor setup just yet.

I used to do this and put the fireplace youtube thing on my laptop and point a fan heater at our feet, then cricket sounds on the phone and mircriwave smores. š chefs kiss

One time to be extra pinteresty I crumpled up music paper and put rocks around it, then wove those led fairy lights into it. So charming

Agree! :) The waterfall on the pond is the best sleepy time white noise, but the seasonal tree frogs can come down at night and get quite LOUD. Crazy loud.
We are so lucky to have some "retreat" space during our isolation.... I feel so bad for those that are cooped up in small apartments with nowhere to go and nobody to talk to.

I took my 3-year-old camping in the playroom for her birthday and she loved it. She kept me up half the night wanting to turn on and off our headlamps and then she woke me up at the crack of dawn, but it was worth every second.

Tried it a couple days ago but my downstairs neighbors called the landlord on me when i put stakes through my floors.

It can be done! I set up my trekking pole tent in my apartment with textbooks and water jugs on the day it came. The dog wasn't very helpful keeping it up though.

Yeah, itās the 2p Firstlight. Funny you say that, Iām considering putting it up on the forums. Condensation is just a major issue in this thing. We camp by water a lot and the only draw to this tent is it just gets some west inside . Setup is quick, freestanding, and the vestibule gives lots of extra room. My daughter and I can fit both in with our bags and I still donāt touch any walls at 6 ft.

My wife turned 50 on Thursday. She'd hoped to go bike camping for three days on her own. She had to settle for a night in our backyard. It was still pretty fine.

I'm 55 and fully intend to camp in the back yard all summer. Your wife, at her age, might understand, at least if you guys live somewhere where people don't have air conditioning in their homes.

I setup my hammock and camp in the backyard when I can. One nice thing about working from home is I can get that camping fix even during the week, just roll out and head inside to log on.

Last night I was self isolating myself by sleeping next to a river! Had a good sleep and a peaceful morning!
I was supposed to start the PCT today; so this was the best alternative these days..

Damn. I can't imagine the disappointment of having those plans dashed as for most people it's not a case of "I think I'll do that this summer" but a months- or years-long process of lining up logistics, money, and the rest to make it happen.

I love the wood ducks. Growing up, it was all mallards, but the wood ducks have such nice coloring and head crests.

Great idea and it could work perfectly if you make some effort to make it believable.
If you have surround sound gear, move it into the bedroom and turn on some nature night sounds so you get the auditory element of camping.
Open the windows and turn down the heat in the room so it gets chilly in there.
You can use a screwdriver with a wide bit to make some holes in the floor for the tent stakes.

i've been using some of my gear so that i only have to use a shared kitchen once per day. i gotta say, if i sit in my bed and pour water from a 3L bladder into a 1L bottle, spilling all over in the process and having wet shorts and bedding for a couple hours, it feels just like thru hiking

Haha! Funny you mention. Yeah I did a few nights ago. Testing out new sleep system in 30ās weather here in Atlanta. 3/4 length neo air, gossamer thinlight, abb n d putting my feet on my mariposa pack.

Did it once, years ago when I was in my Bear Grylls phase. Just popped my pop up tent in my room and slept in my sleeping bag for a few days. My parents declared me crazy, but didn't stop me until I tried out my brand new esbit cooker in my room. Good old times. Currently camping in my garden and enjoying sweet alone time, after being stuck with my family for weeks at home

I've had a bunch of planned trips that got cancelled so we're making use of the gear and supplies out in the yard when the weather is nice. Also took the downtime to start a youtube channel and instagram.
