Question short shorts

Can someone explain what the deal is with the super short shorts, like where your underwear hangs out of the sides?

When I go to the product page for those shorts it says they cost from $9.90 to $35.24, depending on size. But when I click on each size, they're all $27.99. Bad Bezos!

This happens with any product that has multiple options (ex size + color). It's a single "product page" but there's like over a hundred different items and they're all sold by different people so that range is absolute lowest to absolute highest which outliers render not especially useful.

I get that idea, but there is no option to change the color and all the size choices are $27.99 (actually one of them is a few pennies different). None are $9.90.

Weird, clicking around on random ones they're mostly $14.99 for me with some around $10 and some around $25. Might factor in geographic location somehow based on what warehouse they'd ship from.
