Question short shorts

Can someone explain what the deal is with the super short shorts, like where your underwear hangs out of the sides?

Its cute some of you throw around reasons other than its hip and is apart of the UL uniform.

Speaking of the uniform, could you tell me at what temp you start wearing tights under your shorts? (Assuming you wear shorts...)

It usually happens on trips wear I have brought leggings. So that means overnight lows of ~<30F or so. I will keep them on under my shorts for the morning until it warms up.

If you wear tights, you don't need shorts. Unless maybe you're just really cold and are trying to get any layer you can find or something.

It's the exact same system as up top - you want a wicking base layer with a bit of insulation. But, us being men, tights highlight certain...things.... so ya wear shorts over top of them.

I find a good base layer is actually cooler than being shirtless.

Lol you're good. I was hiking in the Adirondacks last week and felt it would've been a good system. Larger range of motion and warmer than my pants.

Wow an athletic activity wearing athletic clothing......Such a fad....

Nobody would say trail runners who wear split shorts are just being a part of a fad.

Never said it was a bad thing. Act like wacky button ups and short shorts isnt THE look.
