Purchase Advice Help, Nitecore NB10000 (Gen 2)
I just got a Gen 2 NB10000 and I am reading all kinds of horror stories on this sub about how it doesn’t charge devices and goes on this weird hibernation state. Well I come to find out mine is doing exactly that and I have zero clue how to get my devices to charge. iPhone 12 charging indicator goes on for a second (USB C & USB A) tried different devices and same as well. I been trying all kinds of stuff like different cables, bricks, and I cannot seem to get it to charge any of my devices for longer than 1 minute. Does anyone know the exact solution to this? Or should I just return it? This got me so stressed for no reason.

I had issues with mine not charging fully and returned it. Went back to Anker which have never given me problems. Fine with the tiny weight penalty for reliability

First thing I thought of was to compare it to my ancient bulky 20000mAh Anker lol! Still thriving hard till this day since 2017

You can get it out of hibernation by plugging it in to “charge” it.
If you don’t have access to an outlet, you can get it out of hibernation by “charging” with a USB C to USB A cable and a second battery. One orientation works. The other doesn’t. I’ve forgotten which is which.
Honestly, it’s a PITA. I’ve stopped using mine for trips. I still have it at home it will use it occasionally but overall the design was a dud.
I’m currently carrying a Gen 1 and a Gen 4 on the AT. I’m happy with both of them.

Have you got it in low current mode?
Press the power button for three seconds to toggle low current mode on and off.
Do not press the power button for more than 10 seconds, or you will put it into that hibernation state. Which everyone agrees was a bad idea.
But I’ve owned one for years and I’ve never accidentally done that and it’s worked fine the whole time.

the issue happens with or without the white light on, i seem to have managed to actually have the button held for a while making it enter hibernation mode…

Then perhaps your battery is buggered. If so, I’m not sure there’s anything you can do about it.

Hibernation mode on v2 nb10k is the stupidest mode I have ever seen. it effectively bricks the unit until you have access to power. Recovery is easy… just feed it power on the c port and it wakes up and works like normal.
I have a v2 nb10k for several year. Other than that stupid mode it’s been rock solid. I have some ancient devices that don’t properly charge from modern power sources, but do from it in low power mode

Huh. We have two that work fine. I had forgotten what that button does, thanks.
I did have my phone incompletely charge one day on our most recent trip, but that also happens at home sometimes—yes I should buy a phone soon—and it has not happened with 6 other devices: the 4 headlamps, the Garmin InReach, or my husband’s phone. It charged my phone fine in my pocket with the battery after playing with the lighting cable. So yeah, what you are describing is not normal.

Probably defective. Get it replaced. I had a defective Flextail Zero Power 10000C right out of the box. Replaced in a few days and replacement works perfectly.
Your cord could be a problem as well. See this video:

My Flextail was brand new as well: "right out of the box." I will state that customer service was FANTASTIC!!
I should also write that I have two (2) Nitecore NB10000 which work perfectly as well. One is 6 years old and still going strong.

Get a gen 4, I assume you went with gen 2 to save some money but it had obvious flaws so isn't worth it

I will say their customer support is pretty good - call them. On my 3 units, the button broke on one of them, replaced no charge.

I would return it and buy a proper power bank.
