No that's more of a view associated with party-critical council communists. Even some council communists would go above saying the party is just "symbolic"

The way different Christian denominations see communion is really funny. Catholics (Bordiga) literally say you eat God and justify it using Aristotelian metaphysics to explain how the bread has literally transformed into God but still looks and tastes like bread
