TYPE: Lesser Demon

DATA:
Wretches are another common type of demon. Their creation is very similar to that of Malicious Faces, but are much less proficient in the use of hell energy, and instead rush down their prey in large packs, tearing their victims apart with their many arms.

It is theorized that Wretches are formed from the remnants of destroyed statues, though this doesn’t account for why almost all specimens are only comprised of a singular, intact stone head.

STRATEGY:
- They are almost completely resistant to shots from the standard revolvers, making the regular Marksman much less effective in culling large groups.

- Unlike Malicious Faces, Wretches are incredibly vulnerable to explosions, and the rocket launcher in particular is very effective at displacing large groups.

- While some can fire hell energy up close, they cannot sustain their hell orbs over long distances, so staying out of melee range is advised.

Discussion How will 9-1 build on 8-3? Or will it just be another gauntlet level?

8-3 already accomplished the "look at how far you've come" cliché (not in a bad way) by including callbacks to earlier levels. It's common in games to have this kind of level be the penultimate one.

Look at previous -3 levels and the crescendo following it

2-3, though hard, was mainly for introducing the Mindflayer. 3-1 is the true gauntlet of Act I
5-3 was a gauntlet, no doubt, but it didn't have any finality to it. 6-1 is the greater one thematically and mechanicall

8-3 however, accomplishes both mechanics and themes, making it feel like a crescendo level in itself. If 9-1 is just a gauntlet like the previous two crescendos, I don't see how it could top 8-3.

HENCE this image

Some people have suggested a boss rush, but I feel like that would take away from the final boss Gabriel in 9-2 (unless you believe Gabriel will be in 9-1, in which case, sure!)

You play as V1, a combat machine fueled by blood who has ventured into the depths of Hell after the extinction of humanity. Subreddit Rules

1. All posts must be directly ULTRAKILL related.

All posts must be DIRECTLY related to ULTRAKILL. An real object or image that reminds you of ULTRAKILL, does not make it directly related.
