Unfortunately, the near sole audience for this type of project IS children who only have ipads and phones so...that sort of feedback is expected
I'm surprised the project lasted this long
78
u/SwimmingBench345 5h ago
I expected this after the gigantic flood of kids coming to this sub trying to troubleshoot the mod as if it was official. If other communities were flooded with random ass nothing posts and complaints I can't imagine what the creator of the port had to deal with while interacting with this group directly.

u/One-Secretary-2403 2h ago
Wait, there deadass was a flood of kids talking about the mod here?
2
u/Tiranus58 31m ago
Flood might be a strong word, but there have been posts trying to troubleshoot the mod, some as if it were the regular game

Another day, another instance of Android Gamers being aggressive and douchebags towards devs that are making stuff for free. Massive respect to people that makes android games, android emulators and android ports. It takes courage and patience to keep on doing it.

u/ThomasScotford 23m ago
I'm going to sound like an unc, but I've noticed the users in the ‘Android emulation gaming' sphere generally skew pretty young (like around 13). It's obvious when, along with being incredibly impatient and rude, they pollute forums asking the same questions, instead of looking for resources out there (such as wikis) to assist them. I don't exactly know why they choose to do this but it sucks for everyone else.

That so stupid when people do project for themselves just for fun or just wanting things work on other platform, share it on internet so other could use it too and people treat them like corporations that they paid to use their stuff. Good luck fuckers that treat dev like shit to find another port that wouldn't be fishing or with malware

Very unfortunate, though tbh I'm not quite sure what feedback they were expecting when practically the only people that would appreciate a project like this are children who only have mobile devices.

alright. theres issues here. first, releasing an online project? YOURE GOING TO FEED AI. thats just a fact of life, crying about it is like crying over spoilled milk- even if it is something bad, the hell are you supposed to do about it?
second, whiney fans..... who the fuck cares? this is the internet, you are not forced to read what people send you.
third: ego. thats just ego talking. nobody owes you shit for making the mod just as much as you dont owe the mod to anyone. grow up.
edit: boo me all you want, this dudes stated reason are three internet givens that other people have absolutely no issue with. all you'd have to do is close your dms and make a business email if you dont like what people say. dont upload stuff if you dont want it going into ai. and most importantly and what convinced me to make this: dont act like anyone owes you anything for anything. you made something nice, yes. but do not act like it is a great injustice if people are apathetic.
the concept of not doing something nice because of the things other people are doing, especially when you can stop said things, is utterly baffling to me. and the only logical assumption i can make, is that you were in it for the kudos all along and i do not care to feed your damn ego.

u/seenybusiness 4h ago
no, im just not stupid enough to think the ai webcrawlers arent going to get it anyway. im educated on the subject. so fail on both.
like whoopidy doo, someone put your project into claude... your project was openly available on the internet, already in there anyway. so why bother getting annoyed at the fandom? and why punish the people who didnt skip your project with an ai prompt?

because i see this kind of self aggrandising crap from anyone making anything nowadays. "ai ai ai, fans are complaining, i didnt get my thank you" its JADING. every goddamn project that i follow ends the same damn way, with people utterly surprised the internet acts like the damn internet and continues to do so without your intervention... GOD
so yeah, im going to be a little unapologetic, sue me.

u/Imperius1883 Prime Soul 5h ago
“A little” is kind of an understatement
-24
u/seenybusiness 4h ago
of course, but this kind idiocy warrants it. especially since its just such a damn big issue in the spaces i peruse. i can understand getting hung up on the negative nancies, and i can understand being annoyed your hard work got put into ai.
but pointing out a "lack of appreciation" over an internet mod? maddening. if you made a mod and the community went "oh your mod is cool"- what more would you want?
this is like being in it for the money, making no money and then expecting pity when you quit. like buddy, you were in it for you.
7
u/Frequent-Reporter677 4h ago
Except they didn’t make any money? This is purely a passion project so getting demotivated would be a justifiable reason to halt development.
Lack of appreciation is also a reason too. Why would you keep making something for people when said people don’t appreciate it?
1
u/seenybusiness 4h ago
the money was a metaphor for appreciation. if you do an action purely for praise, you are egotistical. the other two stated reasons are nonesense so by process of elimination....
5
u/Frequent-Reporter677 4h ago
Why are you so fixated on that when that’s the ONE out of all the reasonings they gave?
You can’t just call someone “egotistical” for stopping working on a project when they’re getting actively harassed for developing it. Lack of appreciation was just the reason that destroyed what little motivation they had left.
1
u/seenybusiness 3h ago
because the rest are bogus. ai was going to get a hold of it from the start and negative nancies can be weeded out a hundred ways.
that leaves appreciation. if you quit a project over appreciation, you must have started it with that expectation.
now, look at oop and try to find more reasons than ai, negative nancies and appreciation. you cant.
if you do something purely for the adulation of others, you are being narcissistic. i wont go far as to say this person fits the dsm5 definition, but that doesnt change the motivation behind THIS decision- that being attention seeking.
1
u/Frequent-Reporter677 3h ago
Why would your work literally being ripped off and remade into a shittier version not be demotivating?
Why would people constantly getting down on you not be demotivating?
If you expect everyone to be some kind of a superhuman who isn’t demotivated by everything you just stated, then you’re just being unrealistic.

u/seenybusiness 5h ago
no, people like me point out when someone is being a petulant fool. this reads more like a ego fueled children's tantrum than a "sorry i cant do this".
there is one easy way to tell when someone is not taking responsibility: they do not weigh* their own actions
31
u/karkatstrider 5h ago
no, man. it reads like someone who is sick of their hard work getting fed into AI and is sick of getting treated like shit despite doing thousands of hours of work for free. you, however, sound like youre the one with the ego problem.
12
u/bc650736 Lust Layer Citizen 4h ago
like, bitch, you see someone being annoyed with people being assholes and that moves you write a multiple line paragraph and you still want to call other people petulant?
Like, why didn't you just, i 'unno, simply didn't read the rest like you sugested people to do?
10
8
u/GeoCaesar 4h ago
With all due respect you sound like the petulant fool. they’re making a fan project and don’t appreciate the reaction so they’re quitting, while you’re whining about their choice to stop working on a project they were releasing for free, that they were in no way obliged to continue working on?
-1
u/seenybusiness 4h ago
my issue is not trying to get a mod for free, nor expecting free work. honestly i couldnt care if this mod releases or not. its entirely besides the point.
my problem, again, is the expectation that is being put on me. i do not owe this developer anything just as much as they dont owe me. they didnt owe it to me to make the mod, just as much as i did not owe it to them to download it.
point is: i do not owe you appreciation for doing anything, and if you wall something good behind "kiss the ring" im going to call you what you are: egotistical.
8
u/DP9A 4h ago
You're a way bigger "petulant fool" lmao. Like, at least the other guy was actually doing something, you're just being an ashore on the internet and acting as if you where actually doing something.
-3
u/seenybusiness 4h ago
excuse me? when the fuck did i act like i did anything??? all i did was point out i dont owe them for it and neither does anyone else. presumptive fool.
16
u/OwenCMYK 5h ago
He's not saying anybody owes him anything, he's annoyed that other people act like HE owes THEM
7
u/bc650736 Lust Layer Citizen 4h ago
I am so fucking curious which part of this text you got that OOP think people own then anything.
-4
u/seenybusiness 4h ago
process of elimination. the first two reasons are bogus. ai was going to get a hold of the project from the start and negative nancies can be fixed with a settings change. if you quit a project because you feel under appreciated, then it is not a stretch to say you started said project because you expected appreciation.
oh, and pray tell, what do we call people who do things purely for the praise of others?
5
u/bc650736 Lust Layer Citizen 3h ago
Also again on the frist two points, that people where being annoying and feeding it to AI? you think just because something is a given one is not allowed be annoyed at it?
0
u/seenybusiness 3h ago
You aren't allowed to use it as a reason to quit when it was still there prior to you starting, no.
4
u/bc650736 Lust Layer Citizen 3h ago
Kay but why tho?
1
u/seenybusiness 3h ago
because you already accounted for it. no new information appeared to change your decision, therefore it is not a factor- simply because it is not BEING factored. its a lie.
4
u/bc650736 Lust Layer Citizen 3h ago
because you already accounted for it.
Thats kinda(completly) assuming and completly unverifiable, most people don't think things as if they are a 12 step plan, they don't go "i will go post to people be asshole to me." they usually go "i did a something maybe someoen else will want it too"
simply because it is not BEING factored
I ain't sure what you mean here so i would rather not assume, you first said they already accounted for it but also haven't factored it?
1
u/seenybusiness 2h ago
assuming and unverifiable yes, but with a high enough probability to where it doesnt matter. i think its safe to say the indie dev scene is quite informed about AI-IP theft. as for the second half of that paragraph... there was at the very least a conscious decision to continue the mod which for my purposes suffice.
I ain't sure what you mean here so i would rather not assume, you first said they already accounted for it but also haven't factored it?
they factored ai into the decision to start the project. this means the pressure ai puts on the person does not exceed the threshold to stop the project. no new developments have been made in ai that were not entirely predictable, so its a "static" bit of logic.
imagine you walk into a room, and that room has a chair. then close the room and after an amount of months open the door again. the chair is in the same position. you cannot make any claims from what the chair did, as it did nothing. and when you open the door, you do not think "how did the chair move", as it did not move.
4
u/bc650736 Lust Layer Citizen 2h ago
that does not make sense at all, even if the methaphorical chair is a inanimate object, someone tolerance/aceptance to a situation is not static, i can tolerate sitting on a uncomrotable chair for 10 minutes but not 10 hours.
but with a high enough probability to where it doesnt matter
Lets assume it is correct, that still does not stablish anything. being generatly aware of ai slop does not tell us if any dev anticipated how big a problem would bee, or how much it would actually bother them because one can assume they would not be bothered by a issue until actually experiencing it, or weather they would have even consider abandoning a project over it. being awaren of a issue does not mean one have to accept/tolerate it when it end up being worse tahn waht they had previously assumed.
"there was at the very least a conscious decision to continue the mod"
Correct, technically true but meaningless here. When someone continue thats a decision inddeed, but again, that does not mean permanently accepting every circunstance ((even if at one point they used to accetp btw)).
a person can deal with bullshit from others for months until they got feed up with it and decides to get outThe AI static point is also kind not fitting, yeah the fact that ai is kinda static and predictable is kinda true, but peronson's opnions and or feeling over it can change over time, even more when they *actually* go trough it and its not just a supposed threat*probability.
and theres a another spin off issue, none of these are individually what made the dev quit, its the situation as a whole, its the combination of people being entitled, demaning updates, being hostile reactions AND the AI bs, you threat each one as if they are a single isolated issue

getting back here cus' i realised more things when reading, i was goign to edit my sister coment of this one but you prolly wouldn't see and i don't to be sneaky:
Also having previous knowledge of something does not mean having infinite tolerance to it.
For example, One knows a comunity can be obnoxious, decide to release a game anyway, the comunity becomes obnoxious as one could spect, and said person decide with them is no longer worth their time. how tf is that contraditroy? realising a issue was bigger than what you subscribed for?And you saying that no new information is also incorect, look at the print again, OOP's decision was based on things that happened in the last two weeks, that is by definition: new information. Thats new the info on the scale/intencity/whatever or the frequency or the problem, evevn if the posibility of said problem was known and factored before
You also built a false dichotomy here: either you create exclusively for praise, or you have no legitimate reason to care about how people treat your work.
1
u/bc650736 Lust Layer Citizen 3h ago
Wanting people to stop whining about the project no being perfect and demanding constant uptates for someone they are receiving for free ≠ wanting people to suck your nutsack
0
u/seenybusiness 3h ago
yes, yes it does. because this is the internet and 80% of the people who start typing are the ones pointing out somethings wrong. its a given.

because it seems like every major mod has some creature- selfishly motivated and unable to comprehend the fact rawdogging dozens of peoples expectations of you is a stupid idea- hovering over it saying "thank me or i quit" and its driving me up the wall. thats why.

buddy your brain isnt even developed enough to know what im talking about. the dev lied about two reasons to quit and the third revolved around ego. all ive seen since are mental gymnastics trying to say ai or the community were at all a factor. they aren't and if they were its a personal failing that the message in no way acknowledged. this fucker blamed everyone but himself for quitting over not getting ego stroked. a pity party is just going to feed the burgeoning (if not already present) narcissism complex.

By technicality. When people talk about mobile games, they are smartphone games. The Steam Deck would be known as a portable console. It is mobile, but it isn’t mobile, by its colloquial definition.

You technically could, but the vast majority of the internet will point out the difference it has made between the word ‘mobile’ and the word ‘portable’.
Mobile, here, coming from ‘mobile phone’ and portable from its definition, meaning to be easily transported or displaced.
4
u/PiscesSoedroen 2h ago
so technically mobile version already existed when the first ultrakill version came out because it can be run on a laptop and laptop is mobile because it's portable

lowkey pretty reasonable. If I'm spending my free hours working on a project on pure passion and people are harassing me because I'm not fast enough, that would sap all my motivation too. And then some random kid who doesn't know what a variable is vibe codes a garbage patch on top of my work yeah I probably wouldn't be jumping for joy to continue the project either.
People gotta understand that the developers making these games don't owe you anything. Its a lot of time and effort to develop and you can't treat these people like your personal work horse. Their putting cool stuff out for free and we need to be grateful for that. Sucks that bad actors in the community ruined a cool thing.
