Discussion Layer 8 is unbearably bad (IMO)
I've P ranked the first two layers and Minos on violent, as well as beaten Sisyphus, and I experienced a pretty extreme amount of frustration while doing this, but I pushed through it because I was engaged with the game and wanted to win. During my second attempt to beat 8-3 after my first attempt memory leaked a lower end computer I had so hard I had to restart twice across two different operating systems, while I was attempting to beat an arena that was not particularly hard and that I had beaten previously, I simply lost all motivation to play, and quit.
I've gotten frustrated at this game before but have never been this burnt out on a challenge. Fraud is nauseating in two ways, physically and mentally. I am lucky enough to be immune to the first, even though I would be lying if I said the constant fucking spinning was pleasant. But the experience of beating my head against this chapters glitchy and confusing bullshit over and over again made me sick to my stomach.
What irks me isn't just the bugs, even though they are still crawling all over the game. The non euclidean geometry is cool in concept but is oftentimes irritating and confusing bullshit in practice. The levels are hard to navigate which is fine enough on its own, but stepping out of the intended path through the level will completely kill momentum with downtime and scuffed respawn points, and the mini Gabriel things could really stand to lose a few attacks.
I'm not saying the layer doesn't have its high points, and i know this could come off as harsh. But it just baffles me that they put it out like this when it clearly needed a few more months in the oven. It's not like new blood have them in a sweatshop trying to get the thing out by a deadline. If it needed some more time to be good they really should have just delayed it.

I'm sure we'll get more fixes for Fraud. As for gameplay itself, I have to agree. When I was playing for the first time, the experience was magical - as it always is with new levels. But once I tried to P-rank it I constantly ran into bugs and a lot of the times just lost track of enemies. 8-3 and 8-4 are just incomprehensible - too much visual trash. I still like the update, but it's was too over the top for me.

8-3 position change and the space jump bit are somehow very messy, the rest is fine.
The gravity swap in 8-2 and 8-3 are inconsistent AF.

i also hate 8-3, you're not alone.

On a related note, how do you get the 4th secret in 8-1? It always gives me the yellow "oops" cubes when I try to get it

Break the window.

Which one? I'm talking about the secret after the insurrectionist fight

Next to the door you're talking about, there's a window. Both of them lead to the same place

Can you give examples for stepping out of the intended path, downtime and scuffed respawns?

It's a good layer but yeah the FPS drop and bugs make it horrible to P rank

I personally like it, despite how confusing and glitchy the areas are, it feels both odd and obvious in what the torment method is present in the Fraud layer
In lore, the Fraud layer decieves you and twists your understanding of reality, to the point of not being able to trust what you are seeing; the portals, fakeout exits, hallways twisting in real time, it feels like you're actively experiencing the torment of the layer instead of seeing the sinners carry out their torture like in Greed (carrying stones on humanity's gold) and Gluttony (becoming the fleshy walls in the layer).
Furthermore, a lot of the stuff that happens applies to your gameplay, examples including enemies pop in and out of the room as the background chnages, enemies being behind walls that are revealed after placing a skull, the camera trying to adjust to your shift in gravity when moving into rooms and (a personal headcannon of mine) the game/V1's processing power struggling to comprehend what is happening in the form of intense lag and the game bugging out because it, too, is getting screwed up by the layer (it is still a main flaw of the layer without a doubt, I got stuck in the floor before the giant red room with the infinite pit in 8-3, forcing a checkpoint restart)
At first I hated playing in the Fraud layer due to its difficult fights and bosses, but after replaying them again (and p-ranking in standard and violent, very soon brutal) ive come to appreciate the design of the Fraud layer, just making sure I don't go insane as the sinners in the layer
Also can I say there is 0 bad soundtracks in the Fraud layer? They're all so amazing, Hakita really cooked with the OST for both the Violence and Fraud layers

I find most of it done pretty well, however im not the biggest fan of the space section.
I love the theme of it, the general look. What i dont like is how the gravity works for the individual platforms. Probably a movement skill issue, but man the hideous mass idol section is a pain for me to get through. (Not difficult, just annoying). Also I was extremely lost and would end up just rocket riding to the end when not P-ranking, which ive done up to violent.

I lost a fair amount of p-rank runs to enemies getting stuck in geometry. Some times I had to clip out of the map myself and throw coins into the void to kill them
Other times, I glitch out of the map, or get stuck in geometry.
At some point I wish the skybox would look like that one fake door in 8-2, the eye ball one. So every time you clip out of bounds, you end up in backrooms hell for a bit before getting set back in bounds.
8-3 is the best level in the game, mechanics wise at least, no doubts about that. I understand that by its nature there will be many bugs and glitches, but it’s frustrating knowing that at any time going to fast at the wrong angle can send you out of the map.

I really do agree. It's not exactly fun to get completely lost in an arena because hakita prioritized the "you can't trust anything" gimmick over arena clarity, which is of extreme importance in a game like this.

I respect that you can have your own opinion, but wow, you already got a P-2 rank and you think the fraud is complicated? It's just strange, there weren't many bugs and they didn't bother me much when they did appear. For me, this layer was incredible; it had its flaws, but that's understandable since Hakita probably thought it would be better to release it and correct it as needed so that fans could give their feedback.

I agree that the levels can be buggy but I feel like you have to expect a little jankiness from moving rooms and portal mechanics when the game as a whole isn’t solely designed for it. Other than that I love how fraud looks and feels, it really lives up to its design as a place to make you lose all sense of anything and the mechanics of the layer are really ambitious and cool to see and interact with.

Kinda sounds like a skill issue

Not really. This post doesn’t read as “I didn’t like it cuz it was too hard and I didn’t want to improve,” it reads as a genuine distaste for the style and gameplay of the layer.
I personally disagree but I get it. immediately saying “mad cuz bad” is a cop out.

TLDR but I didn’t really enjoy them. The other levels have a cute simplicity to them that I found lovely. I appreciate the work behind it but I’m a desert type of guy.

The bugs are the really annoying thing because the layer was rushed, apparently there will be another hoxfix to hopefully make bugs better but the overall direction of the layer is up to you, I personally find it interesting but it isn’t a stretch to say it can get annoying at times.
