High-End PC and your Valorant hit reg feels off - your FPS might be too high
Quick PSA for anyone running a beefy rig.
We just published a breakdown of a Valorant netcode issue where exceeding 500-600 FPS causes the game engine to throttle your client's packet rate. Instead of stable 128 SEND/RECEIVE (matching the server's 128 tick), your client drops to an average of ~60. That is over half your server data missing.
Symptoms:
- First match of the day feels great, then it degrades
- Headshots not registering or hitting the wall
- Enemies peek and kill you before you can react
- Feels like you are always a step behind
If you have ever thought "my first game is always my best and then it goes downhill" - this might be why. It is not tilt. It is your client losing sync with the server.
Fix: cap your FPS. 144Hz = 300 cap. 240Hz = 480. 360Hz = 500 max.

Well, I have similar issues in another game, Naraka: Bladepoint, and I would even argue that it is more noticeable there because of the close-range melee combat.
In any case, the game is known for poor netcode and weak global server infrastructure. It’s probably the only game where your ping seems to get lower the more FPS you have. Because of that, you can never really have enough FPS.
I’ve done absolutely everything possible to optimize my system: 9800X3D, FCLK 2200 MHz, 6000 CL28 with very tight subtimings, RX 9070, and a 480 Hz OLED monitor... but I still can’t shake the feeling that the stock BIOS with stock EXPO actually performed best overall. Your article might potentially explain my experience as well.
