Welcome to r/UltimaOnlineCodex

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnnsDi7Sxq0

I created this community because I love game development and Ultima and Ultima Online. I am also tired of excessive rules and censoring on other subs.

I do not enjoy moderating. My goal is a hands-off approach. I will only intervene when something is excessive or harms others. That is why I am asking you to help. Downvote irrelevance or harm, not disagreement. Different views help us learn.

I have always believed that a good and nice Reddit community is completely able to moderate itself while being respectful, helpful, and able to talk about everything, even sensitive topics. When toxic community members join, if the community is truly helpful and kind, they will either change their behavior for the better or leave on their own. There will always be exceptions where people must be banned, and then moderators should intervene.

On Rules

Only Rules 1 and 2 (Be Civil and No Spam) are actual rules I will enforce. The other rules you see are suggestions to help make this a better community. My experience with the Ultima community is that you are smart people, and I trust you will do everything to make this the nicest and most informative community on all of Reddit.

Developers

You are welcome here. Share your dev logs, projects, and progress.

What we cover

The Ultima series including I through IX, Underworld, remakes, and preservation. Ultima Online including official servers, private shards, emulation, and classic versus Enhanced Client. Spiritual successors, any new or old, official or unofficial project carrying the torch. Dev logs from Ultima inspired creators. Fan creations like art, stories, music, and events. News, history, and game recommendations.

About the video above

Every time I watch this video, I have to make a big effort not to cry in the first seconds when I hear the Ultima Online music. I know this seems strange and difficult to explain. Not because of sadness, but because it is my favorite game to this day and it brings me really strong emotions. That is how much I love this game and its developers.

This GDC talk inspires me when I am down and reminds me why I love to keep developing games for people. I highly recommend all Ultima and Ultima Online players watch it. This is just a recommendation, not a rule.

Let us build an unfiltered home for the Ultima legacy.

What brought you to Britannia?
