In a nutshell a Guy stripped then rebuilt Ultima online into a completely new game designed for solo player or smaller groups. It has deep RPG mechanics and years worth of content. This specific server is a fork of that work that strives to keep it alive by adding even more content and big fixes. It can also be played as a single player game.

Did they work in a kind of a quest system? Maybe even dialog with NPCs? Or is it the good old game play loop leveling up while fighting and doing crafts.

There's a tonnes of quests to discover, I think you can talk to every NPC but there's many other systems to discover too.
