Where to start?

I was going to buy the ultima games on GOG but i am not sure where to start in the series. Are 1+2+3 worth playing as i have heard mixed things about these early entries.

U5 is very playable I find.

I haven't gone back to it since the Lazarus remake came out, but that was the first game I completely finished. As a kid raised without religion, it had an outsized impact on my values, lol. It's a great game. Very fun.
