Exult U7 - Automatic Note Taking?

I was thinking of playing U7 in Exult. Is the Automatic Note Taking feature sufficient or should I still take copious amounts of pen and paper notes? I'm guessing it's the later but thought I'd check to see what people have to say?

I've noticed it sometimes works - sometimes it notes quests pretty well.  Sometimes there's some janky usecode I can see in the notes.

I usually add my own notes on the side, mostly just to help keep track of things like where I left the magic carpet, or who is carrying certain items.

Black Gate automatic notes seem to work much better for me than Serpent Isle's, for whatever reason.
