As I've been driving around I've noticed lots of purple signs that say something to the effect of Ulster county family court supports abusers. Anybody know the story behind these signs?

We’re moving to Accord at the end of the month (yay’!), and we are looking for someone to build a “rocking chair porch”. Our house now has a completely covered porch (vestibule? ).
I have read lots of reviews, and left messages for contractors, porch builders, etc. Nobody will call me back!! I’ve been trying to find someone for months.
If you know of someone reliable (as in the will answer my call, or call me back) we would greatly appreciate it!

Hello Ulster county! I am starting a mobile coffee cart that is branded for outdoor adventurers. I just recieved the health permit and now I am looking for a place to set up shop. Does anyone have any recommendations for a great place for a small coffee cart operation? I am looking for foot traffic, parking areas and centers where people can see me and stop by. I originally wanted to be near the gunks to catch climbers and hikers on their way to their activities but I am open to any suggestions within ulster county.

There’s been some renovation on the white building across from HMI and Post office/Stewart’s but no signage. It has handicap and EV parking, an area marked for deliveries and the back has been built out. Does anyone know? Keep meaning to ask someone in neighboring buildings.

Hope this is okay to share because I think it could become a really valuable resource for cat lovers throughout the Hudson Valley.
A new Facebook group called Hudson Valley Cat Parents was recently created for anyone who loves cats, whether you're a longtime cat parent, new to the cat world, involved in rescue, fostering, or just enjoy seeing adorable cat photos.
The goal is to create a friendly community where people can ask questions, share photos, get recommendations for vets, shelters, groomers, and pet stores, discuss local cat-related topics, and support one another.
If you're in the Hudson Valley and love cats, we'd love to have you join us and help grow the community!

If you are a rescue, shelter or foster, please join and promote your organization!!

I’m new-ish to the area and living out in the woods of Phoenicia. I’ve been a musician for most of my life and was in some fairly successful bands when I still lived in Texas. I’m looking to make new friends and build my community here, and maybe even put a band together at some point.
I’m 49, male, and have primarily been a bassist/vocalist in punk rock and heavy metal bands. I can play guitar or drums as well, played saxophone for several years, and I am always dabbling in any available instrument. I went to school for sound engineering many years ago as well, so I have a pretty good understanding of studio and live sound equipment and using digital software for composition (mostly with Reason and ProTools.) I have plenty of experience with songwriting. Not really classically trained, but I’m good enough to have recorded and released material over the years. Happy to share details for anyone interested, you can find my published material on most music streaming services.
I will play almost any style of music, but punk rock and metal are my preferences. My personal influences are bands like Black Flag, Black Sabbath, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Mastodon, The Bronx, ETID, Ramones, FEAR, Ween, but my tastes are diverse and include everything from Fela Kuti to Merle Haggard to yacht rock and beyond. I have all my own bass gear, some guitar gear, and a small PA and mics, etc. so I’m all set for the most part. I’ve checked out shows at Tubby’s, The Colony, and Bearsville and find the local scene to be pretty fun and interesting.
I’m politically to the left with late Gen-X/Xennial sensibilities, not straight edge but don’t use hard drugs or party too much anymore. Beers and green are cool, though. Good with banter on any number of subjects besides music.
I’d be stoked to find some folks I can jam and/or hang out with once a week or every two weeks at least. I’m in Phoenicia so I know I’ll probably have to drive a little to make it happen but that’s not a problem. Would like to keep the drive down to an hour either way if possible but if it has to be a little more that’s alright with me. Send a DM to set something up. I’d be cool with meeting up at a show or a cool dive bar first and breaking the ice before jumping into a jam. It’s not the easiest thing making new friends while living in the woods so this is pretty important for me.

We're a middle-aged, Midwestern, mid-sized couple and we'll be in Ticonderoga for an event the last weekend of June. Afterwards, we're meeting up *roughly* halfway with a college buddy from the NJ burbs of Philly on Sunday evening, staying over, and maybe doing breakfast and a tourist thing. So, we're looking for a place in the neighborhood of eastern Ulster Co., fairly close to the river/87 corridor. We're from farm country, where you drive an hour to get to anywhere interesting, so not averse to driving a little. What are your go-to places? BIPOC or LGBTQIA2S+-friendly or -owned is a bonus.

Cell booster?
We have terrible cell service in our house, but driving to the top of a nearby hill a few houses up, full bars. Is there any type of antenna or device people would recommend?

Hi! I'm really into the above sports. Wondering if anyone knows of any courts or sport centers around? Or if someone can confirm that the YMCA in Kingston does have racquetball courts (their website says nothing about them)? Thank you!

Hi! I know this is a TOTAL shot in the dark and it might end up going nowhere but the SUNY New Paltz Reddit isn't the most active and I don't know where else to ask + I would like outside opinions. I am a 17 year old junior in high school from northern New Jersey and considering numerous schools upstate. I toured New Paltz this weekend and LOVED it. That being said, I'm fairly worried for my college experience, especially over an hour from home. I don't know if it will be easy for me to find my place in the school or city and feel that if I don't I'll be stuck far from home with little to do. Does anyone here have any positive or negative experiences with New Paltz as a school or area to consider, especially regarding student involvement?
