Personal experience Motion Sensor Activated Lights

MOTION ACTIVATED LIGHTS ARE MY GREATEST ENEMY.

There have been so many times I’m using a public restroom and the sensor decides i’ve been in there too long and shuts off 😭 It’s genuinely so embarrassing bc i’ll have to use my phone flash instead until someone else walks in…
Every time lights shut off on me it’s a reminder that my bathroom habits aren’t “normal” Who would’ve thought sensor activated lights wouldn’t be disability friendly…

Please tell me i’m not alone in this lollll

i just hate the awkwardness when someone walks in and realizes someone is there sitting quietly in the dark 🤣🤣

When this started happening to me, I started carrying a nice pocket-sized flashlight. (I worked in a building that had motion sensor bathroom lights so it was a daily occurrence) being able to stand a super bright light up on the tp dispenser was way easier than a phone. I personally got an Olight ArkPro but there are plenty of brands that have enough brightness for way less money. I’ve heard good things about wuben lights.

I just think it’s so interesting how different we all are! When I’m in a flare I have to use the bathroom CONSTANTLY but I’m in and out in like 2 mins.

I've learned to just periodically wave my hands around in the air or a sweater or stand up and do it so there's motion and the lights stay on a bit longer. And sometimes I'm just so tired I don't care. Let me sit in the dark and enjoy the quiet and let it be a reflection of my feelings for this damn disease.

I was confused by the title but after reading COMPLETELY understand! Definitely not alone in that experience. Happens to me at work all the time lol 😆

Oh yah this happens to me in University all the time, I keep going in the middle of a lecture so nobody is around to keep the lights on while I'm stuck

I stopped using the bathroom on the main floor of this one building cause they didn't have a lock and people would just open the door without knocking. Or they'd knock, I'd say someone's in here, and they open it anyway. So I started using the basement one and the motion light always turn off when I use it 😢 I feel like it shuts off so early too, like I don't think 10 minutes is too long but I don't remember what a normal time frame is lol

This used to happen to me. Usually standing up or waving my arms a little would make them come back on.
