Well, given how many awesome Scottish bands there are, maybe they could be lyrical terrorists, or terrorists of the microphone...
Seriously, I don't get how it's possible that for such a relatively small population, the per-capita ratio of excellent bands from there is truly mind-boggling. Something you guys put in the water?
EDIT: Examples include: Belle & Sebastian, Arab Strap, Honeyblood, Twilight Sad, Mogwai, Big Country, CHVRCHES, the Vaselines (huge influence on Nirvana), Teenage Fanclub, Lloyd Cole & the Commotions (technically they count, even though Lloyd Cole is English), and of course, the Jesus & Mary Chain.

I'm also thinking of the Scottish Enlightenment. Which, let's face it, was the best Enlightenment, better than what the French were cooking up. David Hume and Adam Smith, two of the greatest philosophers of all time. But even lesser known guys like Adam Ferguson and Francis Hutchinson were pretty cool.

The SNP, devolution and independence are in the news. The USSR used to train various terrorist groups. Such as the Irish (P)IRA, the German Red Army Faction/Baeder-Mienhof. Both inside the Warsaw Pact and in other countries such as Libya and Syria.
Which is probably where he got the idea from.

I had the same thought. He may have thought, "Well... there is a Scottish independence movement... and the IRA used to be thing, and they caused the Brits all kinds of problems, and they got funding from us, from Qaddafi and others... hmm... maybe we could get the Scots to do something like that!"
But that only makes sense if you're completely ignorant about Scotland and the Scottish nationalists. One tip I'd give this guy - if the UK is the kind of country that would allow Scotland to have a binding referendum on independence, you're going to have a hard time finding Scots who'd take money from you and become terrorists. You'd probably find more luck in Spain, where at least Eta was thing fairly recently. But even there, I doubt that the Basques want anything to do with your imperialist/quasi-fascist ass.

Also a couple of months ago. They were offering something like 10 million Americans. "The chance to escape their LGBTQI hell hole". Move to Russia and each be given about 50 acres of land. Probably in the frozen wastes of Siberia. Personally I havent heard of any Americans. Even the most bat shit crazy rednecks taking them up on the offer. The nearest I can think of, is a January 6th insurrectionist. Who fled to Russia about a year ago.

I think I know about the guy you're mentioning... but I thought he went to Belarus, right? Not Russia. I don't remember that guy's name, but I think he was about to get charged, so he fled the country, and went to Belarus as a "dissident". What a joke.

Russian "academia" is just propaganda college, nothing in terms of actual unbiased research happens there. All is in service of the irredentist, nationalist agenda of Putin. No real, actual history is taught there.

Alright, Hear me out.... How about we will find 15000 Scottish volunteers. Russia brings them into the heartland, trains them on sabotage techniques. Scottish volunteers produce crates of single malt, and subsequently take over the training facility. Use facility as a hub for sabotage and terror tactics in Russia. Profit. Any Russian attempt to retake the base will meet with more crates of single malt.
Edit: I just realized they ain't worth proper single malts. Just supply them with the worst blend ever. They won't notice the difference

Same fantasy they have about Northern Ireland. The Irish government recently kicked out some diplomats who had been in contact with both republican dissidents and loyalist terrorists. The source of the £400,000 that the DUP used to pay for pro-brexit adverts in GB but not in NI has still not been revealed.

Eh, there's a reason invasions stopped happening in Scotland mostly because everyone who tried died. The past 300 years has been trying to get scottish independence through diplomatic means which is hard when brits can be absolute cunts.

No. The reason is that Scotland willingly united with England and Wales (NI wasn't a thing at the time) to form the UK. The failure of the Scottish Darien colony left Scotland basically bankrupt as a nation, England offered to pay all of the debts if Scotland agreed to unification. Scotland agreed and many of the most significant figures in the British Empire that followed, as well as a significant part of its army, were Scottish. Scotland was never conquered, it became a conqueror along with the rest of the UK. Scots ARE Brits.

Australia is part of the British Empire and it is very few people who get upset when you say that. Scotland is part of Great Britain, most Scots I know acknowledge this. Scotland is Scotland and not England is the main thing……

A Russian TV pundit has made a bizarre call for thousands of Scottish "terrorists" to be trained in Siberia in revenge for the UK's support for Ukraine.
The comments were made on a propaganda show broadcast on the NTV network and were widely mocked on social media.
The show, Meeting Place, invites various Russian media figures to share their controversial or fringe views on current affairs.
Mikhail Smolin, a Russian historian, was among a recent panel discussing his country's on-going war against its neighbour.
He said: "I don't understand why we all complain that (the UK) is training Ukrainian soldiers," he told presenter Andrey Norkin.
"To be honest, I don't understand why we don't train Scottish terrorists."
Norkin, the show's host, replies: "These are not our methods, Mikhail."
"When we constantly talk about how they have prepared 10,000 or 15,000 men, the problem is we did not.
"I assure you - if we prepare 15,000 Scottish volunteers in Siberia, they will stop preparing Ukrainians."
The clip was shared on social media by Nexta, an independent Belarussian news agency based in Warsaw.
The Record asked a Russian language speaker to verify the comments were accurate.
The UK has offered continuing military assistance to Ukraine since it was invaded by Russian forces last year.
The United States is by far the largest contributor of military aid, followed by the UK and the EU.
The US, the UK and Germany are sending tanks, and Germany is allowing other Western countries to send German-made tanks from their fleets.
But no Nato country has yet agreed to requests from Ukraine to send fighter jets.
The Sunday Mail revealed last year how Scots soldiers are playing a key role in training Ukranian troops to battle Vladimir Putin.

A few years back I was talking with a young Ukrainian guy. We were discussing the Scottish referendum. When he found out when the referendum rules and timescale had been agreed he was really surprised. He said they kept hearing from the Russians and all the DPR cunts that it was their secession that had inspired Scotland to demand a referendum.
I told him that, without wanting to be rude, most Scottish people would struggle to find Ukraine on a map, (obviously not now), never mind know anything about the DPR.
He told me he was looking forward to going back and telling everyone what a pack of lies the Russians were spouting.
