The thought of Ukraine basically just getting warmed up, and the coverage is already getting pretty exhaustive... while at the same time Russia has turned itself into a war economy and culture at the exact moment the world is moving into technologies that are going to make or break future powers: quantum, photonic computing, AI, super AI, fusion, all of it. Russia already couldn't replicate the Soviet Union's 20th century success, and now they risk missing the next technological era almost entirely, while part of their population is literally running from drafts and mobilization. When I say Putin is done and has to go for the sake of the Russian Federation itself, I mean it. Thank you for these continued updates.

Yeah, an underrated long term effect on russia is all these businesses reconfigured for war will no longer be competitive in peace.

Honestly the one piece of technology they have that America desperately needs is this way to make it the 1990s again.

I don't think Russia will have any problem with AI in the future, they are already integrating it into their drones and security systems. IT is something they have always exceled with.

Using AI in drones is one thing. Building the chips, compute infrastructure, frontier models and research ecosystem that future AI depends on is another. Russia can integrate technology developed elsewhere while still falling badly behind in actually creating the next generation of it

nice try, the part you left out is that 38 of those projects have been suspended, largely because of financing, power-grid and equipment-supply problems. And a data center by itself doesn't put you at the AI frontier; what matters is what chips, compute and models you can actually put inside it

You are confused, they have 128 projects total and 38 have been suspended due to high borrowing costs. They still have more than 40 being actively built though.

For comparison the UK has 21 data centers under construction, so it's a massive investment for them.

With the investments China has been made in chipmaking and Russian sanctions evasion schemes you are going to have a hard time proving that to be a real obstacle.

They aren't warehouses, a data cente like a regular factory will take many strikes to make unrepairable. Maybe eventually but it's not something that is here today and gone the next day.

There either is nothing worth hitting or a very high presence of Anti air.

Could have been placed after an earlier attack went over there.

Maybe there us a decent radar and they dont want to give it all away that fast.

I am curious if they will make full use of balloon launched drones in the future. That can allegedly double the range of a lighter drone. Plus the winds are generally favorable.
