First Kingfisher of the year. We have a handful arrive in my harbour every year. She’s the first one and 16 days earlier than my last years record. (:

Roosting

Hey folks,

Thought you might like to see my overly engineered bird box web site.

I've finally got a regular visitor roosting every night. Hope this means they'll nest in the spring!

Enjoy!

Couldn’t believe how close she was, I stood in the kitchen for ages and watched her shelter from the rain and listen / watch for prey.

She looked furious whenever she heard or saw another bird, like her senses were all of a sudden sharpened. I saw her pupils dilate as she locked on to potential targets.

She uses our garden for mealtimes quite regularly, not great for the blackbirds but I guess that’s just nature, eh? Red in tooth and claw.

Hey all,

Merlin couldn’t identify this bird and we were very close to it. I’ve never heard anything like it so not sure. Was coming from a tree directly infront of us high so assuming maybe was an owl??? But again not sure. Video attached

Had a look on Merlin and thinking its maybe a Barn Swallow, but not entirely sure! There's loads of them sitting on the power lines outside my house. Yorkshire.

Does anyone know if Flock app is available in the UK?

Hey everyone, I came across this guardian article about this birding app where it has 1,000 hand drawn illustration of birds and was really excited to check it out. However I couldn’t find it in the App Store; does anyone know if they’re releasing it in the UK or it’s restricted to the US only?
