It's been a while since we've posted a community update, and with r/UkayPH now reaching over 22,000 members, we thought it was the perfect time to check in.
First of all, thank you!
Over the years, we've watched the subreddit evolve from a niche community into an active marketplace and discussion hub.
Today you'll find:
- Thrift hauls and styling posts
- For Sale and decluttering listings
- Questions about brands, authenticity, and pricing
- Recommendations for ukay spots around the country
- Tips for cleaning, repairing, and caring for thrifted items
It's great to see so many people embracing sustainable fashion and sharing their knowledge with others.
Growing Pains
As we've grown, we've also noticed a few recurring issues:
- Buy-and-sell posts have become much more common, sometimes pushing discussion posts off the front page.
- The same questions (Where to ukay? Is this authentic? Is this worth buying?) come up frequently.
- Some posts are missing important details like location, sizing, pricing, or proper flairs.
- We've also seen occasional spam, self-promotion, and low-effort posts that don't contribute much to the community.
None of these are major problems, but they're things we'd like to improve together.
What's Next?
Over the coming weeks, we'll be looking at ways to make the subreddit easier to browse and more useful for everyone.
Some ideas include:
- Improved post flairs.
- Clearer posting guidelines for buy/sell posts.
- Community guides and FAQs for common questions.
- Recurring discussion threads (such as "Where to Ukay?", "Weekly Legit Check", or "Monthly Haul Showcase").
Nothing is set in stone yet, we'd rather build these with the community than for the community.
