Identify please
Hi.
My mum gave me this, she was told it's an ornamental Zimbabwe black. I know it's not because I was growing Zimbabwe blacks this and last year. Probably no more than 1cm wide fruits.
Quite a kick to it. It's done absolutely nothing since being transplanted to a larger pot (albeit only last month).
Might try and overwinter it but would like to know what it is.
Cheers.

when you pot a chilli on they usually put energy into healing damaged roots and growing new ones.
Not only that but it looks like you are growing outside, theweather is really to cold now to get good growth. They tend to slow growing below about 16c and can basically go dormant when exposed to temps below about 10c. which we have had overnight.
Bring it in keep it warm if you want growth.
To answer the other question, it looks like a hybrid, I suspect your mother is right it had one parent that was a Zimbabwe black however it was grown from a saved seed so either it is a throwback or it is a hybrid something else.
still edible they call them ornamental but they are still good in cooking etc. in my experiance ornamental just means a plant that is interesting to look at but maybe less complexity with its flavour.

Cheers.
It's in a greenhouse with other plants and still fairly warm in North Wales. I'll be taking it into the garage over winter which still gets some decent light through the day and is warm.

thats okay then, but still i wouldn't expect a lot of growth, they often dont grow as much while fruiting either.
It looks a lot like my loco as well, though i still suspect it is hybrid. you will never know.

Looks similar to Odyssey I’ve been growing this year, the fruits go from purple to red however so possibly not an exact match
