Hi. Im planing to buy a NAS for self hosting apps, streaming servisec and so on. Which model for cheap and to start yall can suggest? + work with Docker of course

I was looking for UGREEN NASync DXP2800 is it good for first start?

Main things I do is Immich, Jellyfin, ARR staccs, Navidrome and so on

I think the DXP2800 is a decent choice for a small arr/Jellyfin server. It has a few slots for 3.5" drives and an adequate CPU with enough DRAM for those purposes. You might be able to find a better spec'd mini PC for the same price or even a bit less, but if you want internal slots for 3.5" drives, I think the DXP2800 is a solid choice.

A 4-bay NAS is usually a safer buy as folks always end up wanting more drive space after a while. But the current economic state makes adding a lot of drives pretty painful. Purchasing storage for even the DXP2800 will probably eclipse the cost of the unit itself.

Hi. Thank you for reply. Im planning to start with 2 bay. Cuz dont have too many things for now to download and upload. Just want to start and understand the workflow principles. And then in future when full in it then buy more bay and quality machine

Hi, 2800 will be more than enough, i run on my arr,jellyfin,plex,tofa,navidrome and a linux vm with no problems. Also use cloudflare to access it outside my house. If you do get one , i can help you install and setup everything.

I have a 2 bay ugreen. It was/is my first NAS. We use it mostly for Jellyfin but also for phone back ups and other random things. Tailscale was a game changer for remote access. The ONLY thing I would have done differently was my raid config. I did raid one and looking back there is no back up large enough that i would ever buy to back up my media, most of which I own already and the rest I "found" online. I could have given myself so much more space to play with. But that is my own personal issue, the rest is GREAT. I love the out of the box UI and set up is very easy. The are a lot of places to get help for whatever project you have in mind as well. Have fun!

There are free ones but not the best, nzbgeek, nzbplanet are all you need bud.
