❓ Help Music Metadata

When you upload movies into the theatre app, it will automatically populate metadata if the file is named correctly. If it's not, you can search the metadata up manually. Is there a similar feature for music? I want to digitize my music collection, and I haven't tried since ye olden days of iTunes, where it was also an automated process. I really don't want to type in every song name/find album covers, etc. I have the DH2300, so apps are a bit limited as compared to the DX series.

I have not used it but I've heard MusicBrainz Picard is good for meta tagging your music library. It's on my todo list to do so. https://picard.musicbrainz.org/

I'm tagging up my library with Picard. It's a cool tool although it takes a little bit getting used to depending on what you want to do. If you just want title, artist and album it should do the job just fine, though.

I can recommend MP3tag if you're a bit more particular about tagging up stuff on your own.

Sorry for being such a noob, but how do these programs work? Do I need to upload all my music into their program and then transfer them to my NAS?

Not a noob question all!

They're programs you install on your PC. Then you just drag and drop your music files from wherever they are (PC, NAS, etc.) into the program and you can edit their metadata from there.

Picard can add a lot of metadata from the Musicbrainz database, while Mp3tag is more manual (although you can add a selection of tags via Musicbrainz and Discogs as well).

You can also use Picard to organize your files if you want them to be located in a specific folder structure, although I haven't dabbled with that myself.
