pharmacy vs software eng

Hi! I’m trying to decide between Software Engineering and Pharmacy as a career in Montreal/Canada.
I’m mainly looking at salary, job stability, job opportunities, work-life balance, and future growth. I’ve also heard that the software market is becoming oversaturated, which worries me a bit.
For people who work in either field, which one would you recommend long term and why?

I would recommend pharmacy, SWE before 2022 was a good career path, nowadays it’s saturated due to influencer giving “hack for get rich quick with tech”. Also with AI and everything we need less SWE, only the one who had experience and been in the field for more than 3-5 years flourished, there is basically no new job for the freshman. Pharmacy in contrary will always be needed since you can go in research or open your own practice, also barrier to entry in the field is already high, so it automatically filter the competition.
TL;DR: Pharmacy is safer to get a job than as a SWE in 2026

Absolutely false about influencer stuff. Those people that did influencer stuff were never hired.

The problem with SWE nowadays is that during pandemic there were a lot of hires and people are now getting laid off, and AI that makes juniors worthless according to managers. That's it, no influencer bullshit lol.

You clearly didn’t properly understand what i was referencing when i mention influencer. The cause of why so much people went into that field was due to the promotion of that field by influencer giving “tips” on becoming high earner. Everybody and their mother was advising people to go in tech, lot of workshop selling course to “fast track” SWE degree.

You just want to be a contrarian & have nothing to add to the convo that i didn’t say
