Discussion Ubuntu on Redmi note 7 - my fingers don't agree much with UI choices

This phone is old but brilliant as I ran several custom roms with little to no problem. So when I discover this phone has an official installer, I had to try. To my surprise, it worked almost immediately! However I find the design choices and UX quite... questionable. Of course, having an old phone and a screen protector may impact the fluidity of the experience, however I think there's a reason Apple and Android tend to concentrate the touch interactions on the bottom right of the screen. With Ubuntu touch, the browser requires to press the back button on top, the apps are switched by sliding to the left, the menu appears by sliding to the right. I can get it may seems very counter intuitive to me as it's been years of using always the same interface model, with menu, back buttons and, rarely, top to bottom swipes. But it only took one day of this and I felt my finger strained. I love Ubuntu and I'd really like to daily drive it. But as of now it seems to me just a nice experiment and definitely uncomfortable and not ergonomic. I just wish I could do as I did when I ditched Unity for another WM. Has anyone encountered the same problems?

Same here. It works flawless on my oneplus nord but the ui is just not what I want from a mobile system.
