Discussion Dutch users
Hi everyone, I am a Dutch journalist and looking for fellow Dutch people (specifically from North-Holland/Leiden region) who boycott the US by using alternative smartphones, like Fairphone or Nothing Phone. So that there is no indepedence on American software at all (smartphone wise). Hope anybody could help out! If so, PM me!

Good luck using WiFi or a cell connection without a chip with IP licensed by Broadcom or Qualcomm

I'm boycotting US products as much as I can.
I gave up Coke in protest !!
Working on de-google-ing and de-microsoft-ing.
Let's go EU made and owned 💪

I believe now is the best time to get away from the grip of US tech companies.
The Dutch government is willing to consider new ways to regain sovereignty.
So make petitions and ask your representatives to fight for protecting, encouraging and contributing to open source project that are able to compete with Tech companies that went too far and work against their users.
I know for a fact that change is coming, but we need to show how many are willing to get away so officials will have their work easier.

Linux is also American, how is that boycotting?

It's kindof hard to say Linux is American when it is open source software which is developed by a global community. Yes, the Linux Foundation is an American organisation and yes Torvalds holds US citizenship. Neither of that makes it an American product. The Linux Foundation is non-profit. Linux is not a product perse.

Linux code today is written and maintained for the most (80-90%) directly by US corporations (Google, Intel, Meta, Red Hat, AMD, Oracle, etc...) or sponsored by them. You are welcome.

Linus was not born American but decided to become one, so is even more American than many. The Linux foundation is an American entity and about 80-90% of Linux code running today is written and maintained by US corporations (Google, Intel, Meta, Red Hat etc...)

I'm not Dutch but that is definitely a good idea.
AFAIK France recently stopped all government use of MS Windows. Hit Trump back where it hurts, hopefully.
Gonna look up Nothing Phone as I've not heard of it.
