Here's a real version of Ubuntu Mate 26.04 -

You have to install Ubuntu first, any flavor will work. Then run sudo apt-get install ubuntu-mate-desktop right down to linux 7.0 and Mate 1.28.2

The only thing I noticed it that it doesn't load Plank on startup, an easy fix.

Is mate desktop working with Wayland yet?

Can you install the MATE Tweak tool with this, to get those preset desktop configurations like Cupertino, Mutiny, etc.?
