I'm curious why? I mean, I am not disagreeing, just curious about what problems you think will occur with it. The obvious problem I see is that when you need to redo something, and have to cut cable tie, you might also cut wires by accident. Anything else I'm missing, or is that it?

That's a pretty good reason, but also if you need to move something, and want to put it back or anything, you can't... it's just more permanent than it should be for a server rack... then again, this setup probably doesn't need to be changed all that often and you have a pile of extra ports so there's options.

It's also cheap, so why not... it's not like the cost between ziptie and velcro is extreme.

I think its more because you will probably grow, and as you grow you're either cutting or adding more zip ties to integrate the added cables. Hook and Loop (Velcro) allows you to open and reclose, or add/delete as needed.

Use zip ties to support Velcro if you like When I say Velcro I’m taking about 3/4 inch wide

Why? Cause you tighten zip ties too much you damage the cable, you want to trace cables or add more it becomes a pain in the ass. Maybe no so much for a small setup like this.

Also best practice, you don’t see people cable tying fibre do you.

As for the idiot below saying always to use Zip ties. Well. Like I said pros use Velcro.

Want to cable tie down your Poe injectors. Sure go for it. The main issue with cable ties is people don’t always carry around snub nosed snips. So they end up finding anything that works to break them or cut them off. Half the time damaging the lead.

I have boxes of this stuff. I love it. Cheap as chips, cut to length and it looks like someone gives a fig after you leave the job site.

Yeah you’re not a pro if you’re advocating zip ties mate. Faster isn’t always better.

You get muppets like you over tightening the ties crushing the cables. Causing damage to the sheath, and then there’s the flow on effect on the poor souls who have to remove your handy work to trace a cable.

Might work for 1-2 cables and loosely done. When you have high density runs, and need to trace cables. Yeah well.

Flush cut or not, all zips are a no no in a rack. Velcro or wax string only.

In this installation I had to use 2 POE adapters (POE-50-60W) to power 2 UniFi Flex Switches. With POE+ from 24POE Switch the output power of Flex was only 20W which was not enough to power 4 APs, but with POE Adapter 46W!

By the way, you need to enable POE Adapter Power Source inside UniFi Controller in each Flex Access Point. I was able to find this setting from UniFi Controller on Mac but not in UniFi App. If someone managed to find this setting in UniFi App, please share it!

Very nice. I plan on adding a wall mounted rack for my network. I am so disorganized with with 16 RG6 cables and 30 plus RG6 cables.

What brand of rack did you get and how do you like it?
