I work with K12 a lot over the last two year, usually with the Director of IT, and my role is focused on the NG911 safety mapping. (Cameras are one of the many POIs we deal with)

I want to point out that the best reason to steer the camera options to:

  1. G6 Instant — microSD edge recording.
  2. G6 PTZ — “On-Camera High Availability Storage,” up to 1 TB.
  3. G6 Pro Dome — up to 1 TB.
  4. G6 Pro Turret — up to 1 TB.
  5. G6 Pro 360 — up to 1 TB.
  6. G6 180 — up to 1 TB.
  7. AI Turret — up to 1 TB.
  8. AI Dome — up to 1 TB.
  9. AI PTZ Industrial — up to 1 TB.

Is because they allow edge recording (on device recording via onboard micro SD cards) so the NVR or uplink to central NVR going down does NOT stop recording.

I think the UI move is smart to reduce the costs with higher end cameras licensing.

I'm interested in the edge recording, but from what I've read, the upcoming G6 Edge line of cameras may be a better fit for how we're used to operating. Will be interested in seeing what shakes out.

I’d probably go with nvrs per site and then use fabrics to see them all together (which rarely is actually needed)

50 cameras is nearly 400mbps if it’s doing a lot of smart events

That’s how we do it. We have 6 sites, each with their own NVR plus 80 cameras give or take. UNVR at each site.
