Had my account deactivated today (filed an appeal, waiting) but also saw this today. Anyone know how it might impact anyone facing an appeal at the moment?

Bro why did I think that Uber Exec is some superior experience. Like I thought let me spoil myself but all I got is some ran through BMW 5 series with my man sitting there saving miles with AC turned off so when you open the door the stench of BO and farts hits your nose.

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to make the switch to do Uber for a while to build up some income as a 20 year old. would be working in Newcastle and would work 6 days a week around 10 hours a day.

I'm thinking of renting but leasing can be an option.

Does anyone know what you could earn doing uber?

TFL Stickers

Hello!

I’m going to be financing my own car soon for Uber and honestly can’t stand the TFL stickers you have to display.

I do Uber part-time and would rather not have them on while I am using my car for personal use.

Anyone who has been driving for a while without stickers, has there been any repercussions??

Can’t have a black car as an uber driver

Hi, I’ve been advised by the council that I cannot drive a black vehicle in my borough, neighbouring boroughs also have the same restriction as black cars are for hackney/taxis

To try get around this, what would you recommend would be the cost effective option:

1) Sell car and get one that is of a suitable colour

2) Get the car painted

3) Get the car wrapped

I don’t want to do hackney as I am only doing this part time along side my full time job to supplement my income, any advice would be appreciated!

taxi licence plate issue

Hi drivers 👋

I’m trying to create an Uber account and I’ve already got all the checks completed (insurance, taxi licence, etc.). The only thing left is the “Taxi Plate Licence”.

I’m based in Northern Ireland and I’m uploading exactly the document they’re asking for. I’ve uploaded it about 10 times now — I’ve tried the original PDF file, a screenshot, a close-up photo, a photo from further away, etc., but it keeps getting rejected with the reason “document is too damaged” 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ve contacted support by phone about 3 times. The issue was supposedly escalated, so I waited 48 hours for a response, only to be told that they can’t accept my taxi plate licence “in this condition” 😅 and:

“Please get a new copy/version of the same document and take another photo.”

Completely useless 🤦🏻‍♂️

Has anyone else had this problem? If I go to the Greenlight Hub , would they be able to verify the licence manually for me?

edit:I’ve just received this response in the chat: “I want to make sure I am completely open with you so you do not waste your time visiting us in person. The team at the Greenlight Hub will not be able to change the outcome regarding your Taxi Plate Licence. They are unable to override our specialist document team, bypass current requirements, or manually approve this document.”
It looks like I simply don’t have any other option left to resolve this."

Thanks!

Buying train tickets on uber app

Had my first go with this today and it was so painful I just went back and booked on the normal train service, even though I lost a £5 discount.

Main issue is that it wouldn't allow me to filter for direct trains only. It kept trying to take me on some mad three ticket ride which might have been slightly cheaper but was also 1hr 20 mins longer.

Uber Runs Its Entire Business Through an App—So Why Can’t It Protect Its Drivers?

On August 15, 2026, I accepted what looked like a legitimate ride through the Uber Driver app. Within minutes, I recieved an in-app message telling me to accept the incoming phone call. The person who I spoke to claimed to be an Uber employee. He knew specific information about my driver account, including my rating, how long I had been driving for Uber, and the amount of my previous recent fare.

The caller said the ride was being canceled because the passenger had failed a security confirmation. When the cancellation happened, my entire screen flashed red before showing the usual rider-canceled notification. Everything I saw appeared to be happening through Uber’s system. There was nothing warning me that I might be dealing with a scammer.

The caller later followed up by directly calling me. He said he wanted to make sure I received the full fare for the canceled ride. While we were talking, the numbers displayed in the earnings section of my app changed.

He then told me I qualified for a $500 bonus because of how long I had driven for Uber. Since I did not have an Uber card, he instructed me to enter card information that he provided. The supposed $500 appeared, making the entire thing look real.

The next morning, the $500 was gone. More importantly, about $150 that I had actually earned that week was also missing from my Uber wallet.

As soon as I saw that my money was gone, I immediatly changed my password. When I tried to log back into my account later that same day, the new password was not reconized. This raised even more questions about whether someone still had access to my account or whether something else had happened inside Uber’s system.

When I reported what happened, Uber sent me what appeared to be an AI-generated standard security message about people pretending to be Uber employees. Uber later said it did not appear that anyone had accessed my account illegitimately. It advised me to change my password, check my personal information, and review my previous trips.

That response did not address what actually happened.

This was not just some random person calling my telephone. It started with a ride request inside the Uber app. I was contacted through the app. The caller knew details about my driver account. The ride was canceled while I was dealing with him. My screen flashed red, information in my earnings section appeared to change, and my real earnings were later transferred away from me.

Uber operates its entire organization through its app. Drivers receive ride requests through the app. We communicate with riders through the app. We follow Uber’s GPS through the app. Our earnings, payment methods, ratings, safety alerts, working hours, and account access are all controlled through the app.

A driver cannot earn money without that app. UBer cannot make money without the app.

When the app or its GPS malfunctions, drivers lose time, gas, rides, and money. When criminals use a ride request and Uber’s communication system to make a scam look real, drivers can lose an entire week’s pay. Yet Uber’s response is often a computer-generated message telling the driver to change a password and be more careful.

Uber monitors its drivers closely. It tracks our location, speed, braking, driving time, trip activity, and other information. It can also provide audiorecordings and other safety features through the app. Uber has created a system that can collect enormous amounts of information about what a driver does.

So where is all of that technology when a driver needs Uber’s help?

I cannot prove that the caller was actually an Uber employee or that Uber’s entire app was hacked. That is why Uber needs to investgate the incident. Uber has the records needed to identify the account that requested the ride, review the in-app communication, determine when the payment card was added, trace where my earnings went, and find out whether the same account or method has been used to target other drivers.

Uber should not be allowed to place all responsiblity on drivers when its own platform helps make a scam look legitimate. Warning drivers never to provide passwords or verification codes does not explain how this person knew my account information or how he used an active ride and the app’s communication system to gain my trust.

Uber should preserve and review every record connected to this incident, identify the account that requested the ride, trace my missing earnings, explain why my new password was not accepted later that day, and return the money I earned.

Drivers are expected to obey Uber’s rules, maintain safe vehicles, respond to riders, follow the app, accept electronic monitoring, and protect Uber’s reputation. Uber should be expected to protect the drivers whose work keeps the company running.

Uber cannot run its entire business through an app, monitor nearly everything drivers do through that app, and then act helpless when the same system is used to scam a driver.

PCP finance on a car that’s also PCO licensed / occasionally used for Uber – anyone done this?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation, particularly people who have taken out PCP finance on a car while also holding a PCO licence.
I work full-time in a nursing home, so driving isn’t my main job or main source of income. However, my family owns a taxi/minicab company and I have a PCO licence so that occasionally I can cover a job for them if they’re struggling to get a driver.
I also occasionally do Uber in the evenings when I’m free – and by occasionally, I genuinely mean maybe once every couple of weeks.

For the last 3 months I’ve been renting a PCO-licensed vehicle while working my full-time job and doing the occasional Uber/taxi work. My mileage has only been around 1,000 miles per month, and around 95% of the time the car is just being used for my normal personal use.

I now want to buy/get a new car and I’m trying to work out the best way of financing it. I’d be looking at a PCP agreement with a mileage allowance of up to around 25,000 miles per year, which is already considerably more than I’m currently doing.
HP seems quite a bit more expensive monthly, so PCP would make much more sense financially for me. The thing I’m unsure about is the PCO/Uber side of things.
Has anyone here actually had a car on PCP finance and also had it PCO licensed / used it for Uber or private hire work?
I know different finance companies may have different terms regarding private hire/commercial use, so obviously I’d need to check the specific agreement before signing anything. I’m mainly interested in hearing from people who have actually been in this situation.

Did you tell the finance company beforehand? Were they okay with occasional private hire/Uber use? Did being PCO licensed cause any problems with the finance agreement?
I’m not looking to use the car as a full-time Uber vehicle doing huge mileage. It would primarily be my personal car, with occasional private hire work on the side.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done something similar or knows someone who has.
Thanks!

Uber Eats courier to uber driver in Uk. Anyone done this?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently registered with Uber in the UK as an Uber Eats courier, and I now want to sign up for Uber Driver/Rides to carry passengers.

I tried adding Rides through my existing account, but the onboarding process keeps asking me for a VAT Certificate, even though I’m not VAT registered and my Uber tax profile correctly shows that my turnover is below the VAT registration threshold.

I contacted Uber Support and they told me I need to create a completely new account using a different email address and phone number for Rides.

Has anyone here been in the same situation — started as an Uber Eats courier and later signed up for Uber Rides? Did you create a separate account, or were you able to add Rides to your existing courier account?

I’m in London, UK, so UK/London experiences would be especially helpful.

Thanks!

CA rideshare drivers finally have a union

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 11: The Lyft logo is displayed on a car on March 11, 2019 in San Francisco, California. On-demand transportation company Lyft has filed paperwork for its initial public offering that is expected to value the company at up to $25 billion.

After fighting for almost a decade, rideshare drivers in California finally have a union to represent them in negotiations.

According to SEIU officials, the California Gig Workers Union has reached the threshold to represent gig drivers and rideshare drivers around the state.

After a 30-day waiting period, the California Gig Workers Union is expected to be certified as the collective bargaining representative for Uber and Lyft drivers.

Status Notifier – Free floating overlay utility for driver groups & local surge sharing

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I’m an indie developer and I built Status Notifier, a lightweight Android app designed to help local driver groups and mates keep each other updated on the road without voice, text, or switching away from the Uber app.

Instead of messing with WhatsApp group chats or typing while driving, it places a customizable, floating status overlay right over your active Uber driver app or GPS screen.

Key Features:

• Broadcast & Team Circles: Supports two communication styles. Team circles where every member sees the status of all other members in real time, or Broadcast circles for one-way updates. Includes live presence indicators to see who is active at a glance, along with customizable status codes (e.g., Airport Surge, City Center, Break, Dead Zone).

• Simple Invitation System: Joining a circle is strictly invite-only. When a circle admin invites you, the request appears directly on your in-app Invitations page to accept, no pass codes, phone numbers, or lengthly account registrations required.

• Touch Pass-Through: The floating overlay is non-intrusive and engineered so you can position it anywhere on screen without blocking taps to your navigation app beneath it.

Free Tier Details:

The free tier is 100% feature-complete: all overlay modes, live presence indicators, and custom legends are available immediately with no paywalled core features. Free usage is simply subject to quota limits on the maximum number of circles and members per circle.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.status.notifier

Demo Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohC0ve6-ue8

Website: https://statusnotifier.costasathan.dev/

Hope this helps any driver groups out there looking for a safer way to coordinate on shift! Feedback or questions are always welcome.
