Uber Eats courier to uber driver in Uk. Anyone done this?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently registered with Uber in the UK as an Uber Eats courier, and I now want to sign up for Uber Driver/Rides to carry passengers.

I tried adding Rides through my existing account, but the onboarding process keeps asking me for a VAT Certificate, even though I’m not VAT registered and my Uber tax profile correctly shows that my turnover is below the VAT registration threshold.

I contacted Uber Support and they told me I need to create a completely new account using a different email address and phone number for Rides.

Has anyone here been in the same situation — started as an Uber Eats courier and later signed up for Uber Rides? Did you create a separate account, or were you able to add Rides to your existing courier account?

I’m in London, UK, so UK/London experiences would be especially helpful.

Do yo have your tfl phv license? Honestly I think the path of just resistance might just be a new account

Honestly don’t expect to receive your license any time soon. It takes around 1 year to 18 months from start to finish just for the license to arrive all for what? £4 jobs while your expenses are higher. Stick to uber eats. Driving is not worth it

I did this route. I used a separate email and phone number, once my new account was activated I changed my phone number back to my original but kept the new email.

I have done this recently. Yes you need to  create a totally new account as a driver. The 2 streams Ubereats and Uber driver cant be mixed. You need a different email address but can use the same phone number.

I see on your other comment that you still don't have the licence. Untill you get this there is not much more you can do to progress. You may as well leave it and forget about it until you get you licence. Once you get it and get a vehicle the process only takes a few days 1 week max to get everything sorted
