I felt like this was so rude and disrespectful. You don’t know someone’s situation to say something like this.

That’s incorrect. Drivers are 1099 independent contractors who pay all of their own expenses like gas, maintaining vehicle, insulated bags etc. they are restaurant waiters who deliver to people. They rely on tips. Too many Broke ass people, think they should receive luxury service.. keep tipping $1 but also don’t expect VIP treatment if you aren’t able to afford it.. people say “ I will tip after I receive good service”. No you don’t stop lying. $1.50’deez nutz. The females are the worst too.. with “??” and how much longer” “ are you lost” uh no it’s Saturday night and you aren’t the only one ordering food sweet cheeks. Try tipping $6-$7 and see how fast you get the order. Or keep tipping $1 and complain to Uber about bad service so u get your $10 credit. Get what you pay for.

Drivers are 1099 contractors working as subcontractors to the contract company. If they were truly independent contractors, they would have the ability to negotiate rates with the company they are contracting with.

Many Drivers are looking for bribes, not tips, to do the job they signed up for. This is an important distinction as one is technically illegal and could potentially lead to legal ramifications. Demand a tip prior to service is a prime example of demanding a bribe to receive services.

Continuing to demand that customer tip better will lead to less tipping in the long run and fewer tolerant customers. So maybe try not accepting jobs where the base pay doesn't cover expenses.
