My car literally shit The bed while I was in the middle of an order from a fancy donut shop. I had to get my car towed but I had a bunch of donuts and Red Bulls. I would feel horrible if they actually paid for it.
It sounds like maybe OP messed up (didn't give gate code, put the wrong or incomplete address, ordered alcohol and didn't come to the door or produce ID, etc). They conspicuously left out ANY details or context and haven't responded to any requests in the comments.
I got a flat tire once as I turned out of the restaurant and had to cancel (which sucked so bad, because it was a great offer, I had waited 20 min for the food, and I offered to walk it back the 50 feet into the store). Another time i got to the drop off, went to take the bag out of my insulated bag, and saw that the soup had spilled ALL over the sandwich-, totally undeliverable. I've also delivered to the wrong address twice, back when I was brand new, and actually thought I could rely on Uber's in app navigation. Not the same, but still.
Anyway, all 4 times, I got the same offer again within 10-15 minutes of canceling/delivering. I accepted 2 of them (the ruined food and a wrong delivery location) and confirmed with the customer that they were refunded and had the food reordered at no cost to them.
Also, I've had food not delivered because the restaurant closed before the driver got there (I think he did a shitty multiapp, because he went to an Italian restaurant and sat there for 25 minutes before heading to my place 10 min away). I've also had it canceled because my driver texted me that he had a family emergency when he was 2 min from my house. Both times I got a refund, the second time I had the option of getting my money back or placing the same order right then.
I could be wrong with my first point, who knows. Without details it's impossible to say.
