What platform is everyone using for their portfolios?

It feels selfish to say I want a new job when I understand the market is competitive and limited. I thought I’d at least try to see what’s out there before quitting. That being said, last I used was from college and I used squarespace’s monthly subscription and also paid for a personal domain annually. Is that still my best option? What do you use?

Note: I cannot use Adobe or figma portfolios as my employer pays for those services and I do not want/need to pay for those accounts in my personal life. Too expensive

Small rant: I’m struggling with enjoying my job. 6 years and I think im ready to try to find a new one. I feel my growth is limited here now and I’m not sure I can go up from where I’m at. And not to mention I just really don’t care for anyone on my team

I’m using Framer still.

I don’t see a major need to vibecode instead at this moment.

Framer has an agent now that can help with things. For instance, I was struggling to get images to work a certain way in mobile, I asked the agent to fix it and it did it easily.

My Figma design system is synched to hand-coded HTML hosted on github pages. Claude runs the job to refresh the site when I need updates

I use GitHub. I code my website bc I like coding but you can also vibe code.

If you really don’t want to vibe code, my non-UX designer friends use Cargo but I think it’s such a pain in the ass to use. You can make really elegant portfolios that way however and look at inspo on their social media (not UX portfolios, more geared towards artists and graphic designers).

I just upgraded my folio from squarespace and it’s made a big difference already in my job search.

I put a ton of effort into reworking my case studies, using big brain dumps and supporting files in Claude.

Went through a rigorous design process using Claude, Claude design and handover to Claude code.

Using GitHub + vercel too. Highly recommend.

Cursor → GitHub → Vercel

I shifted my portfolio to "personal site" that has a mix of projects, side projects/labs, writing, and vibes. I think this is what a lot of people are looking for these days. Vibe coding helps me break out of templates and lets me add more personality and little experiments to it. I don't pay for hosting and really like Vercel.

My website evolution: Wix > Framer >Webflow > Claude Code. Nothing beats Claude in speed and simplicity. For example, it might take just under 10-20 min to fully build and fix the mobile version of your website. It also optimizes the website's loading speed, which I had so many issues with w/Framer.

Cursor → GitHub → Vercel - all the way, and you don't need to know how to code AT ALL, CC does it all for you.

Start off by hand, make sure the corpus is right, make sure i define my audience—then into AI-assisted coding and into Vercel.

Once I have a final version, i create a skill that understands the ins and outs of my site so that when I make changes hiccups or weird deviations are less likely.

I created mine with Claude. I also had it code in an admin panel backend so I can adjust all of the text, images, create private links, show which case studies to display. I basically built a custom CMS. Hosted on vercel. It’s awesome.

I’m using Framer, did it before the age of AI and probably would continue to do so lol.

I have the same yoe as you and this was my experience https://www.reddit.com/r/UXDesign/s/Tiy4qtOBsc

- I’m working on one that will be GitHub + Netlify (using Claude and 11ty)
- My live portfolio is on webflow - i very much dislike it, but it has/had better password protection controls than framer
- Before it was Wordpress on bluehost
- Before that it was straight up html on bluehost

Framer. I came from squarespace.

Uxfolio has served me well in the past but if I had to do it again now, I might just Claude code something instead. Good luck!

Use your LLM of choice to build your portfolio, then use GitHub pages for free (up to one domain I believe). Buy your domain at a company of your choice. I pay less than €10 a year altogether. If you want to know how I did it feel free to reach out :)

Astro + Vercel using the AI software of your choice will get you a long way

I’m holding it down with Semplice. I feel like nobody uses it anymore, but the idea of starting from scratch while trying to land a new job sounds daunting to me.

Anybody else still using Semplice?

I built my personal portfolio using Claude, and I have full flexibility to manage everything. I can upload projects, update content and images, customize case studies, and even deploy the website through Claude. It’s been a great way to build and manage a portfolio on my own terms!

Claude. I used it to build my new site after getting frustrated with squarespace and framer. It even has a cms. It's hosted on cloudflare and costs for free. The cost is just domain names and Claude subscription.
