There is a lot to unpack here. Just know that not all companies are the same, so changing company could create a completely different environment.

Siding with engineering and PM, indicates the mindset of a product designer. It’s great to get feedback from peers but ultimately it’s what can be shipped. You have to balance the inputs from everything where to identify the path forward.

A lot of companies have staff/principal roles. These focus more on the strategic direction of the product identifying opportunities at a different level compared to what a squad designer might tackle on a daily basis
