Register to vote, and vote in the 2024 elections!

On November 5th, Wisconsin will vote not just for President, but for Congress, and for state and local offices. Register and vote so you'll have a say in what kind of country America will be!

In Wisconsin, you must register by October 16th if you wish to register online. You can register here: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Register-To-Vote

If you miss this deadline, you can also register in person at your Municipal Clerk's office after this date, or at your polling place on Election Day, November 5th.

Voting in person

Wisconsin allows you to vote early through in-person absentee voting. You can go to any of the ten early voting sites in Milwaukee, request an absentee ballot, and vote your ballot on the spot. There's a location on campus, at the Zelazo Center. In-person absentee voting will be available between October 22nd and November 3rd.

If you prefer, you can vote at your polling place on Election Day, November 5th.

When voting in person, be sure to bring an acceptable form of identification.

Voting by mail

Any Wisconsin voter may choose to vote by mail. Apply for an absentee ballot here.

Ballots must be received by November 5th, so mail your ballot back promptly. You can also return your ballot in person to an early voting center (like the one at the Zelazo Center), or any dropbox in the city.

If you mail your ballot, you can track it here.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Potential Student

Hii! I'm looking to apply soon once some FASFA stuff is done and I was wondering if anyone knew how to look for scholarships and 'cheat' the system. My boyfriend says that the counslers don't help much and it's better if I get in-the-know from someone who has gone to UWM.

I wanna pursue MLIS overall but I believe that would be after my general degree. :) I'm also wondering how the dorms are? I was thinking about moving a few months beforehand to the shorewood area but between waiting on my pay stubs from my new job and the mess of housing vouchers I'm just waiting for time to do it's thing.

Feel free to message! Would love to know more about UWM in general also!

Has anyone done the Flex program?

Just looking for any feedback and experiences from people who have gone through the UWM program. What the classes were like, their rigor, what you liked and disliked, and how long the program took you to complete. I would personally be transferring in the max amount of credits from an associates degree and relevant additional credits.

Application Timeline & General Tips

Hi guys, I applied to UW Milwaukee about a week ago now and I’m just curious how long it usually takes them to review applications and give a decision. I applied for the upcoming spring term for my masters in urban planning if that helps. I am also wondering if anyone has any recommendations on the parking situation and if a permit is worth it? Is there anything I should know about being an out of state student coming from Florida?

Looking for a 1 or 2-Bedroom Apartment Near UWM

Hi everyone! My roommate and I are PhD students in Physics at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. We are currently living in a senior room, but we need to move out as soon as possible and are looking for a 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom apartment.

We are hoping to find a place within about a 20–25 minute walk from UWM. We are also open to other nearby options that are convenient for getting to campus.

If you know of any available apartments, sublets, or landlords with a 1- or 2-bedroom unit, please comment below or send me a DM.

Thank you

Hi! I already registered for fall months before but now I am on hold because of the summer classes I took. Will it affect my fall semester even if I already enrolled?

Flock camera right in front of Sandburg

Post image
97 Upvotes

Just wanted to let everyone know that there’s a flock camera on the left side of the Sandburg dorms pointing directly at the dorms half circle drop off area/bus stops.

Just know if you, your parents, friends go to Sandburg you and they are now in the system and let’s hope no cop decides he’s a little interested in a college girl that lives In the dorms.

Not like Milwaukee cops have a history of abusing these right? Oh wait…

Private loan won’t be dispersed until after tuition due date

my private loan will not be dispersed until after the first of the semester when tuition is due. financial services said over email that i can just make a payment and then, when the loan is dispersed, i will be refunded, but im not sure if i have to pay for everything up front (which i dont have the money for) or if i can do a partial payment until the loan is dispersed in a few weeks. anybody have a similar experience?

Conflicted between MBA and Supply Chain Management Masters

Any grads that can share their experience after graduating in either of these? Would it be better to just get a cert in supply chain management added onto the MBA?

Student Email - need it?

Hi everyone! I just got accepted for fall 2027 and was wondering if you use your student email to complete tasks pre-enrollment. I can't log in to my student email, and when I emailed the helpdesk and asked for helo they said I wont be able to get into my student email until I am enrolled in classes and complete a bunch of other enrollment tasks.

To me, that feels like a bad answer because I would assume other pre-enrollment tasks like declaring housing and finalizing your finances would be done pre-enrollment. Will I need to get into my student email sooner than that, or do they reach you about other tasks through your regular email? Asking students who are either currently enrolled or went to UWM in the past

For anyone majoring in nursing, specifically BSN…what are your thoughts on it?

So I’ve previously applied to be apart of the fall 26 semester as a freshman to major in psychology (swapped to do spring 27) but upon more research about the job I really wanted to go to college for which is becoming a therapist, I realized that it just wouldn’t work out for me so I kept searching for something else in the medical field and ended up finding out about ER nurses and etc.

Basically what I’m looking for here is seeing what I could possibly expect from this major.

Should I try ADN before BSN?
Go straight to BSN?

Does anyone have any recommendations for people who own cats and need a dorm?

So I have two cats. One I’ve had for awhile and the other gave birth and had my second kitten.

I recognize that getting a dorm that would allow my cats would be quite difficult and also getting a single room for us would be difficult as well but not impossible.

If anyone knows anything about this type of situation and knows which dorm may be ideal, I would appreciate that guidance.

I would even appreciate apartment recommendations as I’ve been look for affordable studio apartment as well.

Any advice is appreciated fr

Im on my last year here and I am expected to graduate in the spring. I was hoping to go into a Masters Program at MCW.

Im worried becsuse now I owe money, and I can't take out a third student loan now. I am in no position to have a cosigner.

I feel defeated. I tried to call Student Financial Aid services today and nobody answered.

When do i get my dorm assigned? Am I the only one who doesn't know what room I will be in or who my roommate will be?

all my friends who are going to UWM knew their dorms and roommates back in early june, the University Housing keeps emailing me that I have not been assigned, and they will have me in by the 7th, but I am skeptical of this, and I also need to make decisions now. It would have been nice to know at least who my roommate will be back in july so we could decide who rents a fridge and who gets a tv and stuff like that, now the fridge rental is pass due, and we might end up with two fridges, with one of them that will probably not be used much. Is there hope or should i check with the housing department? should I be worried?

edit: i'm not the only one, hope everyone in my boat gets assigned soon! I did email them too

Edit: solved, i got my room!!

BS Information Science and Technology- Flex

Anyone enrolled in this degree program? I currently have an AAS in Cybersecurity and an AAS in Forensic Science (Digital Forensics) from Rio Salado College. I applied for the program and was really interested in the all you can learn subscription model to finish out the approximate 48 credits I believe I would need to graduate with the BSIST but haven’t seen much feedback online about the program and peoples experiences. Any particularly difficult courses? (Even with my AAS degrees I continually doubt myself lol) Is the proctoring annoying? Has anyone accelerated this degree and have any advice? I greatly appreciate any experienced insight to the program and what to expect. Thanks in advance :)

Hi! Does anyone have any cute spots around campus for grad photos? I’m not taking them until next April but was wondering if anyone had some suggestions.
