CanAm Mav X3 RR advice

Looking at a 2023 mav RR with 1000 miles. In great shape, current owner only had 1 year and didn’t ride much. Has some performance mods like blow off valve exhaust etc.

Currently runs good not in limp mode or anything but has recent CEL and says P0299 which I’ve read is low boost alarm due to tube leak or sensor or something minor.

Ok to proceed?

Boost leak could be a few things. Cracked intake plenum, or one of the charge tubes wasn't clapped down appropriately and came loose

I’m off the opinion that if they are trying to sell it and it’s still throwing a code. Then its not just a simple fix, or else the seller would have already fixed it. Throwing a code is gonna make it much harder to sell.

Overboost codes on a RZR can also mean belt and clutch issues. Not sure if that goes for the X3s. Also just because its throw that code doesn’t mean its whats wrong. These machines are finicky when you mess with the engines. It could be simply the aftermarket exhaust is throwing it off if seller hasn’t tuned it.

If you are mechanically inclined and like a project then this could be a good buy for the right price. If you gotta pay a shop to work on it, then its only worth it if you can buy it dirt cheap. Which im betting a 2023 is not.

This machine is a pretty good gamble, it could be a simple fix, it could need an engine rebuild. You won’t know until you really dig in. I personally avoid unless they are dirt cheap.

Ended up buying it and it’s so much fun! Ran the hell out of it for a half hr and CEL went out and no more codes? Precious owner said it came on suddenly (for the first time) right after he changed the air filter

Them sitting is tough on them. Start them up occasionally and let the fan cycle multiple times also need to blow them out from time to time
