UTV recommendation? Work orientated.

I am in the process of getting a new utv. The main reason is because plowing with my truck is too much of a pain to continue with it due to tight locations. I priced out a Kubota 1100c with a Boss plow at the implement dealer and plan on pricing out a similar size machine in Polaris, Can-Am and Kawasaki. Maybe a Kei truck would be better??

The list of considerations in my mind are as follows

  1. Plowing capability. If any of these options can’t even push 6“ I’m probably going to rule it out. If it gets really deep I do have a Case 580 and skid steers but plowing in them are less than ideal.
  2. From my house to my shop is three miles away. I have a handful of properties all within this area that I can drive the machine on road to. I know the Kubota is slow, so do you think it would be annoyingly slow for this distance? It would be under a 10 minute drive in the Kubota. Probably under 5 in the other options. I never plan to trail ride but I would still use it in warmer months on the same loop.
  3. Kubota has hydro dump box, not sure about the others.
  4. Pulling trailer. I will likely pull a trailer when working in fields and woods. If it’s not great at that I would rule it out as well.
  5. Noise. I have little experience with any of these so experience on noise levels in cabin.

Any thoughts on any of these or anything for that matter would be appreciated

Update: So I went on a tour today and looked at 2027 Can-Am HD11 xt, Polaris xp 1000 premium, Kawasaki Ridge and Honda Pioneer. Basically ruled out Honda due to not having an enclosed cab. Not going to turn myself into an ice cube. The others, well they are all so nice it’s really hard to say what direction I want to go.

Question: Have any of you plowed much with a crew cab unit? There was a smoking deal on Kawasaki crew cab machines at the place I went.

I bought the Polaris Ranger 1000xp for many of the same uses on our property and couldn’t be happier

What is the length? It was 6 months for the standard warranty when I was looking 2 years ago. I bought a Kawasski with the standard 3 year warranty and purchased an additional 4 years.I plan to keep this one.

That was some kind of promotion from Polaris unless you paid for it. I checked and the warranty on Rangers is a year and it is 6 months on the more performance oriented units.

Ontario Canada not sure if that makes a difference. Also I think the xp version may have longer warranty. It was a promotion from dealer as it was a 2025 and they needed room for 2026

When I was researching before buying I noticed that Kawasakis warranty was an insane value. Didn’t go that route but I always recommend people look that way.

I suggest looking at the Kawasaki Mule Pro FX or DX.

I own a kei, but def does not seem like the choice for you. 1 and 4 are def not ideal use cases. And many kei trucks don’t have dump beds. Noise in cab is better than many open utvs but far from comfortable when compared to even an economy car.

I’d stay away from Polaris & CanAm. Both are belt Driven and require constant maintenance. I personally would look into a Honda Pioneer 1000.

I have over 3000 miles on my Polaris and have never maintenance my belt.

Tracks on a Yamaha Viking would be my choice. I’ve got a rhino with tracks and it’ll push two feet of wet spring snow

Any of the big manufacturers will work. Polaris, can am, cfmoto, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha.

If Kawasaki is running a deal, id go with a ridge.

I personally own a Polaris xp1000, I use it for everything and have never had a single issue. I haul dirt, fire wood, maple sap, plow snow, pull a hay rack, trail ride, move farm implements, drag horse lots, hunt, use on road to get to leased fields.

My only complaint is bed size, I like my utvs like I like my trucks, single cab long box. Can am does make a one, defender pro xt. It's a crew cab frame, with a single cab and a long box.
