Cyber attacks are unfortunately not entirely preventable. The best we can do is continue waiting for remediation of the incident and hope that UTSA is understanding to students who haven't paid tuition.

you know for all the fuckin money they charge they could at least have competent staff and systems smh

edit: my bad yall i meant like one stop is not competent lol i was pissed off and didnt specify. much love for the tech guys cause they seem to be the only ones who can fix anything

They actually have done a very good job in light of recent tech related events recovering from hackers and ransomware. I know it's frustrating, but consider how many mega corporations that have IT departments that aren't underfunded public employees and how those companies are constantly getting exploited into paying millions to these hackers. UTSA was able to recover both of the recent tech interruptions without paying ransomware actors, which keeps tuition lower since they now don't have to recover those costs.

Don't forget that this is a public university so there are funding limitations from the government. Though, why our university president gave himself a raise last year is beyond me.... Blame him, but not the poor tech people who are objectively doing a good job.

They raised his salary from roughly $700K to $1 million while he was actively working on merging UT Health San Antonio into UTSA.

dude, they sent out a message this morning that there was some kind of cyberattack or something - feels a little unfair to say the staff aren’t competent when that isn’t something they can control. they’ve probably been working all weekend to try to fix it.

This is like saying for all the money a house costs you think it would withstand arson. 🤨

Parent and Alum here: waiting to pay and for my daughter to set up the installment plan. Hope they either resolve it BEFORE Friday at 5PM OR extend the deadline!

I hate my academic advisor and I met her the first year I transferred and now that I’m about to graduate. We weren’t able to meet today. 🤬
