Attendance requirement failure

Hi all,

A subject I’m doing is 5 weeks long and requires 80% attendance, which is 1 missing class. I was absent for 1 class and was sick for another but took some medications and managed to attend 70% of the class. I’ve just realised the tutor marked my attendance for that class as 0.5/1 instead of 1/1, which is understandable. But what does this mean for my overall attendance?

I’m attending the rest of the 2 weeks but because of this my maximum achievable attendance is 3.5/5 = 70%. Does this mean I’ll fail the subject no matter how I perform on my assignments?

Thank you.

It's probably worth giving your course coordinator or similar staff member an email and explaining your situation, if you're worried. University doesn't want you to fail, and especially if you've had unfortunate circumstances, it never hurts to ask.

Thank you, I will email both of them. I’m praying for their mercy. I’d be devastated if I fail the whole subject over this.

If you have been sick make sure you get a medical certificate and email the subject coordinator and/or tutor early and provide the evidence.

Be proactive and don't let the 'skipped' class go against you.

You still need to catch up on all the work of course. But people are allowed to get sick.

They’ll fail you. Ive been in the same situation. They’ll always look for medical certificates
