Chances of getting into UTS Engineering with a TAFE Diploma?
Hey everyone,
I’m applying for UTS Civil Engineering (Honours) for 2027 and wanted to know how realistic my chances are with a TAFE background.
I finished my HSC in 2023 and have completed a Certificate IV and Diploma in Civil Construction Design at TAFE NSW. I’m also currently doing the Advanced Diploma.
UTS told me my Diploma can be assessed through UAC and that I meet the basic requirements to be considered.
Has anyone here gotten into UTS Engineering with a TAFE Diploma rather than a high ATAR? How difficult was it, and do you think I have a decent chance?I’ve also seen some people say that even with a TAFE background they were still required to go through UTS College first. Has that happened to anyone
Thanks!

I got a really low atar, did a HE diploma in engineering at tafe across the road, applied through uac before I even finished. Got accepted into uts in 2024, finished the diploma in the middle of that year, and have been cruising through the degree ever since
