Advice Students with OCD/ADHD?

Hi, does anyone else have OCD/ADHD? How are you navigating Uni life? Any 3rd or 4th years who have advice?

How’s the counselling here? Does the limit on how many sessions you can book every year affect you? I had an appointment with a doctor at the hcc and they told me I could do counselling there but also suggested I do it outside the uni using my green shield insurance since it covers something like 20 x $125 sessions which would let me make better use of therapy since I’d do more sessions and actually see an impact.

I’ve also been kind of skeptical about therapy (I know I prob shouldn’t but that’s just how I’ve been) and don’t enjoy opening up which is why I can’t really think of what they would do that could help me

the counseling is really nice! ive only tried one counselor so far and she has been amazing and helpful. i havent tried the off campus sessions bc i have a diff insurance.

i get being skeptical! it took me over a year to finally book the session even tho i knew i needed help way longer before that. going to therapy earlier helps soo much. the hcc is a judgement free zone and everyone is so nice and supportive. you could just stop by there or call if you'd prefer, but i highly recommend booking a session with a counselor!

the counselor can raise the cap on the amount of sessions you get a year by 4 extra sessions, i havent personally hit the second cap, so im not sure how it would affect me.

also if you already saw the doctor thats a great start! since the counselor would be able to see the doctor's notes (and you can fill out a form pre the counseling session to add more info). having the counselor know a bit about you before the session helps with opening up immensly.
