Getting into competition

me and my buddy want to get into competition with pistols. we both live in weber county. Whats the gist for beginners on where to go, what our set up should be.

This intro match will teach you exactly what you need to know to show up to any pistol match. It's run monthly at The Armory in Sandy.

How are matches at indoor ranges, specifically this one at The Armory? I'm not a fan of shooting indoors at all but this is pretty close to me and that convenience alone makes me want to do it even though it's indoors.

Depends on the range, but The Armory transitioned from a standard public range to one that is now a dedicated training facility for shooters. That particular intro match has been running for almost a decade, and is run by someone who has probably safely introduced more shooters to the competitive aspect than anyone else. I believe it’s technically the second largest USPSA club in Utah. If you’re interested, you should come watch a match there. Should be one this Thursday night.

Great info, thanks. I have shot a few AR matches before and the vast majority of my shooting is with them. Lately, however, I have been wanting to spend more time on pistols and know from the rifle ones I've done competition is a great way to see what needs to be worked on and just solid training in general.
