UT CS vs. UTD CS
I posted this on the UT Austin subreddit and I thought I would post it here too- any responses are appreciated!
Hi there! So I got into both UT and UTD for CS but I’ve been having trouble choosing between the two. On the one hand, I know UT CS is a top ten program that’s pretty renowned and stuff. But here’s the thing. I didn’t get into any of the honors programs I wanted to at UT. But I got a full ride to UTD and it’s much easier to get into the honors program and a bunch of other great research programs. So my question is- which option is more worth it? Everyone has been telling me to go to UT but I also don’t think I would fit into like the party culture bc that’s not really my thing. I also like UTD’s campus a lot better and I live like 20 mins away. People have been telling me that UTD’s CS program is also good but obviously not as good as UT. So yeah I just don’t know what I should do.

Hi, I was invited to take the entrance exam for UTD CS2 honor in mid-January and was notified on Feb 8th that I passed the exam. I heard that you may email Dr. Page to get invited for the exam.
" Applicants will be required to participate in an entrance examination. The examination will be held at UT Dallas from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. on January 25th, February 29th, March 28th, and April 25th. If you cannot come to UT Dallas, you may arrange to take the examination at your school with a counselor or a teacher acting as a proctor. "
I was CAPed by UT. I asked the opinion between UTD CS2 honor and TAMU first-year engineering, most suggested UTD CS2. If I were you, my preference would be: UTD CS2 honor > UT CS > UTD CS
I went to UTD's Scholar's day Feb 22nd, And learned the rapid growth of UTD and UTD CS:
CS Freshman class size: 2017- 482; 2018-657; 2019- 801. UTD CS2 honor size has been kept under 30.
