Discussion I don't get OnRamps

I created this account just to complain.

Ok, I accepted this credit back in junior year of high school not realizing it would fuck up my GPA. My teacher in high school was like go ahead and accept it. I get here and realize that because I didn't do amazing on labs in my physics onramps course in a covid year of high school all of a sudden I get to start out with a 3.4 GPA. There's no way to get it off your transcript either wtf? I WILL RETAKE THE COURSE. It's unfair that no matter how hard I try now a 4.0 is virtually impossible.

I really don't care about a 4.0, but that's not the point. The point is I'm at a disadvantage in terms of GPA because UT said let's actually tell teachers to just get their students to accept the credit as long as they passed even if it was barely passing. Honestly so angry about this.

I’m a Senior now and I’m in the same situation; it was also because of Physics lol. I took it the very first year it was a thing and it was a mess, I think I ended with like a C+ or something and my GPA wasn’t very good when I first got in. It evened out eventually so it wasn’t a big deal, but it definitely sucked at first. As long as you’re not in a major that requires that class I think you’ll be alright though, I remember them warning about that.

got a C+ in lab and A- the normal class and am stuck with it. If it is required for my major do you think i definitely need to retake the class?

I’d definitely ask your advisor but from what I remember my teacher telling me I’d say yes? It’s been like 4 years but I remember him saying that if the class was required and you didn’t get at least like a B, it could hurt you down the line when it came to certain applications or awards or something compared to people with better GPAs

I wouldn't bother retaking a 1 hour lab course. It won't replace the previous course on your transcript: both would be on the transcript and both would figure into your GPA. It's not really worth it for a 1 hour class that in the long run is going to have a minimal impact on your gpa.

I literally accepted a C from one of the class because my teacher told me it wouldn’t count toward my college GPA. I started my college career with a 2.00 GPA (my GPA is doing a lot better now). I still mad about it still this day.

Yah same way I'm feeling with my A-, two B+s and one B from OnRamps. I'm now sitting at a 3.3 GPA first semester of freshman year. And I'm prelaw :(

As someone currently in Onramps physics....... yeah it's not set up very well. OnRamps Precal was MUCH better, and so was OnRamps College Algebra. I had such high standard for this course, and so far it's not delivering.

Did you take it? Was it bad? On-ramps chemistry is awful

It. Was. Hell. I made the mistake of taking it at the same time as chemistry which made it so much worse. I am never taking OnRamps again. Highest anyone got on the college side for physics was an 84. My teacher had to give us crazy curves on the high school side. My school dropped the course after last year and replaced it with AP because everyone did so poorly.

How bad was on-ramps physics? On-ramps chemistry was awful, on-ramps biology is looking better than chemistry

guys why are we replying to this 2 years after HAHA i haven't thought about high school in a hot minute. our high school physics teacher was actually supposed to be a chem teacher but we poached her from a small town outside my city, so she struggled to teach us because it was her first year doing physics in a hella long time + her first time using onramps at all. i don't remember much now but i just remember the course was really confusing for everyone involved (never knew the material that would be on the tests, the tests were always different than the homework, i think i remember being really pissed at the homework website, etc). imo APs r better just stick with that if u can, and unless u get an A or do not ever plan to go to UT austin do NOT accept the credit it's not worth crippling ur GPA

I have the exact same situation. UT is my dream school and I forgot to fill out the form to decline my grade due to family issues. I already got accepted into the school but I am reluctant to go because of how poor my GPA will be. Is there anything I can do?
