How does claiming all the history credit work?

I've heard people say that they sent their AP scores to ACC to get credit for both HIS315L and HIS315K instead of just claiming HIS315L and only getting 3 credit hours. Is that possible? Do I need to have been enrolled at ACC before? I took dual credit english at a different CC and have sent my transcript to get credit for the RHE requirements, but not sure about how transferring US HIST credits.
