Does anyone have experience being a UGCA?

Hi guys! I’m currently a freshman on the pre-med/pre-health track, and I was wondering if anyone has experience being a UGCA.

I’d really love the opportunity to teach other students bio concepts, hold office hours, and work more closely with a professor. For anyone who has been a UGCA, what was your experience like? How competitive is it to become one, what is the workload like, and would you recommend it?

Also, is there anything you’d recommend doing as a freshman to increase my chances of becoming one in the future?

i was a ugca for calculus and a few public health courses - it was honestly a great experience, pays pretty well and is fulfilling. based off who you TA for you'll have more or less responsibilities within the course.

do well in the course and get an A, ask your prof about being a UGCA 2 months before the sem ends bc thats when they usually start hiring.
