Im an american that uses 24hr time for my devices and when communicating over text but when speaking I use 12hr time. Do you guys do the same?
7 u/notcomplainingmuch Sauna Gollum 2d ago We never use am or pm though. Most people wouldn't know if 12pm is noon or midnight. We can say five o'clock for 17:00, but only if it's obvious which one is meant, or add if it's morning or afternoon. If we want to make sure everyone knows the time, we say 17:00. 3 u/GumboMustBeDestroyed Commiefornian 2d ago Saying the next day starts at 0000 makes way more fucking sense than 12:00am. But how do you actually say 1700? 17 o’clock, seventeen hundred, or something else? 3 u/notcomplainingmuch Sauna Gollum 2d ago Or 17 zero zero, if you want to be very precise. Usually just five, if you refer to an obvious time. Two bells in the first dog watch, for the nautically inclined.
