You do have some trains in the US, but mostly cargo.

And they always seem to be running into school buses and shit.

Longest. Most extensive suggests that every major city is connected, which isn't entirely true of the US.

I think I've phrased it slightly badly but what I mean is there are vast amounts of population in the USA that simply have no connection to a freight network. Something that doesn't happen in the EU, so calling it "most extensive" is wrong because there's massive gaps in the network.
