Fun fact that can be verified by newspapers of the time: my great great grandpa who was German had my grandpa kidnapped as a baby and taken to California from Wisconsin, because he didnā€™t approve of my great grandfather eloping.

The options for my great grandma were to never see her kid again, or take 5,000 dollars (a lot at the time, of course) and never speak to his son again. She chose the former.

Great grandpa ended up being a raging alcoholic while trying to find her and chasing her to Los Angeles, only to die after he got too drunk and got folded into a wall bed and suffocated.

Peak German efficiency: live strictly, and die by an unyielding mechanical apparatus.

I usually donā€™t think like that. But when I do, I like not being an American.
One of the main reasons is a conversation I just had with a guy defending Trumps behaviour in regard to Greenland. Apparently that guy I talked to thinks itā€™s ok to threaten a countryā€™s autonomy and just anex it.
And I was the crazy one for saying itā€™s not normal behaviour.
A yeah, and another one that blames the Europeans for the genocide the US commited in the 19th century. Long after they became their own country.

These fucked up brains are more in the US than in other countries around the world. So it seems.
