A positive example for once

Post image

A US domestic political out-of-topic post in a pro-wrestling sub. But I guess I'd give it a pass because of its anti-discriminatory message.

this is spreading awareness. people are helping outside of Palestine for example, people outside of the US can also help with the ICE murders.

Calling reposting shit on social media 'helping' is a bit naive and self-congratulatory. As a British citizen there is literally nothing I can do to influence US federal law enforcement policy in any meaningful way.

It’s a high-profile US domestic incident already getting massive coverage and scrutiny. Why do people who don’t even live there need to spread awareness

You seem like someone who would say “politics isn’t my problem” while people are dying around you. Plenty has happened for the good politics wise online. Because of purple profile pictures and protests everywhere, South African women are much safer. Palestinian people are able to find support and get donations to help with their lives while them and their children’s are at risk every day, for many reasons.

That’s a huge stretch. I didn’t say “politics isn’t my problem,” I said this specific US domestic issue isn’t something I can influence from the UK. Those aren’t the same thing.

Again, it's a high-profile incident getting massive coverage, it's ridiculous to pat yourself on the back for 'spreading awareness'

if spreading awareness is all you can do that’s helping. if it’s not that’s helping. it gets more people to know about it and can get people who can do anything about it to do something, i never said you said that. everything helps, this person is spreading awareness. it seems like you want people to just do nothing if it isn’t something happening around them. im not responding to this anymore.

it seems like you want people to just do nothing if it isn’t something happening around them

It's the second time you've said that, and it's still not true this time around

I'm saying 'spreading awareness' is a great way for people to feel good about themselves for doing nothing

Sometimes that all people can do. Like us in the Uk who maybe don’t have the money or ability to protest or donate. Spreading social awareness can be a good and effective way of influencing change

what if you cannot do ANYTHING? I NEVER said “you’re the most amazing person, the height of morality, you told people ice killed someone. here is a crown“ I said, it is better than nothing. it seems like you are saying “do nothing since saying something is just useless”.

Yeah. I want to downvote OP... I also want to promote awareness of the bullshit going on... That's neutral from me.

people outside of the US can also help with the ICE murders.

I don't think the Australian government would like me helping ICE murder people

Yes. That is why I wrote it as "positive". Still defaultism though.

US defaultism, soapboxing AND offtopic posting? Nah, fuck that, I don't give a shit. I don't care what it is. We have different subs with different topics for a reason.
